Vote for your favorite PSN game to receive a massive discount
Today Sony announces the first ever PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards. Gamers will be able to cast their vote in for their favorite or the game they are most hyped about across four categories.
Sony sent out a press release today detailing the first ever Game Awards event for the PSN. The PlayStation team has selected 20 of the highest user rated games from 2010 and put them up as nominees to compete in four categories.
The categories span – Best PS3 Downloadable Game, Best PSP Downloadable Game, Best PS3/PSP Mini and Best PSN Exclusive Game.
In order to vote, between Feb. 22 and March 1, download the XMB theme of your choice from each category. By downloading the PS3 theme, you will be casting a vote for that game.

The winning games from each category will be featured as part of PlayStation Store’s Spring Fever event at a specially discounted price on March 1st. The wining game will receive a 30 percent discount on the PlayStation Store and a 50 percent discount for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Almost every week, Live does 50% discounts on various games. .I just got Serious Sam 1 & 2, I previously got worms 1 & 2 and toy soldiers all 50% off
Toy soldiers is my favourite tower defence type game, you can even take control of the units.
My mates got battlefield 1943 50% off. .
Live has just as much on offer as PSN. .in fact I would say it has way more. .PSN is still playing catch up to Live

I thought Toy Soldiers was an RTS.
PSN is still playing catchup to XBLA in quantity but not quality. XBLA sees more Arcade like releases than PSN. PSN just recently started offering Minis, which is equivalent to many offering from XBLA.
For every Shadown Complex or equivalent XBLA offering theirs 50 garbage games.

Tekken is MUCH more complicated than SF. Hell, Yoshimitsu has more attacks than every character in SSF4 combined…
Tekken takes real skill to master. SF is “how many Hadokens can I throw” and “how many Hadokens do I need to dodge”.
I attend Evo (almost) every year, and only Shoto (Ryu, Akuma, Ken) users win. Bullshit.

You can’t really compare Tekken and Street Fighter…
Heres the thing though guys, Tekken, being a 3D fighter, allows a ‘buffer’ for mistakes…the controls, although really tight and top notch are not anywhere as precise as those in Street Fighter games…not by design but moreso due to the nature of 3D….even Super Street Fighter 4 is guilty of this…if you want an example of the most precise and tight gameplay…Street Fighter 3 Third Strike is to date, the most precise and tight Street Fighter..
Anywhoo, for me, and well the rest of the fighting game community, if you want to claim your best…it all goes down in a Street Fighter game…..
Tekken though i will admit is no button masher..it has a very deep combat system…just not as precise as Street Fighter…and i have the latest Tekken game

I think the future of entertainment will be services like Netflix. It will happen for music as well as games. I don’t want to wait for games in the mail. If I could DL games for a set monthly sub like Plus only all games then I would be happy. I would save money but Sony would gain in the long run with many people who rent games and use services like gamefly.

@BJ– Halo 1 deserves it’s accolades. But Halo 2 & 3 underdelivered, story wise (as multiplayer shooter franchise, it did it’s job pretty well. I mean, it DID popularize console multiplayer and every series thereafter is playing catch-up, including Killzone, Gears, Resistance and CoD, with CoD being the closest) Reach though, after playing it seriously, is a fantastic game. I know it’s en vogue to hate Halo, but let’s give credit where it is due. Without Halo, Killzone would not be the ridiculously awesome (and beautiful) game that it is (TODAY. Killzone 1 sucked. No ifs, ands, or buts).

The only reason SF is “the king of fighters” is because of it’s Japanese popularity. Japanese people are still stuck on 2D fighters. When SF went 3D, everyone went mental! Tekken is absolutely deeper than SF. Seriously, competitive SF comes down to fireballing– thats it. Daigo and (I keep forgetting the guy that can consistently beat Daigo, but it ain’t Justin) just use Ryu and Akuma, and SPAM hadokens the entire fight– and they’re the best SF players in the world.

Sony last time I tried was clunky as shit and in fact was not even working, I’ve never bothered yet to see if they fixed it yet. .they need to change the interface entirely..
I also don’t want to have to pay to listen to a radio station, even if I get to select the music. so all the pay stuff Sony have on there options can get to hell.

I’ve only played 1-3. I had a lot of fun with 2. After seeing all of the praise and accolades 3 received, I was pretty confused when I finally played it. It was nothing more than a slightly higher res version of 2.
From what I understand ODST was even worse – an expansion sold for full retail – for a game that was outdated at release.

Tekken had its moments but Street Fighter has been the best fighting since Street Fighter 2.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 is the most intense and most technical fighting game (along with the MvC IP). Tekken does have more move but “more” doesnt always mean “better”.

Oh man let me find the link of sf3, of daigo….not many fireballs thrown and in fact is the perfect example of just how deep and precise one has to be in sf…he parries everyone of chunli’s lightning kick special…with nigh a sliver of hp left to boot!!!
Sf has one of the deepest combat systems ever, and that is why sf is heralded as the “king od fighters”..but most people don’t get past that first layer of combat in sf…the layer that makes sf easily accessible to everyone…trust me….it does not come down to just fireball spams….they’d be too easy to counter..well not in sf3 at least ssf4 has too much leeway for noobs…
I’m not knocking tekken, I love me some tekken…
And I’m sorry I disagree with you on giving halo props…
Halo deserves credit in popularizing fps for consoles…but it ends there..
CoD has been around much longer than halo and borrowed nothing from the halo franchise…CoD has its own legs to stand on, halo did nothing, CoD would have been great without a halo release and I will tell you why:
CoD is not competing with Halo..halo ain’t even on their radar…CoD main competitor is Battlefield..
BF stands on its own, it did not take anything nor needs anything from halo…in fact BF and CoD would have hopped along just fine whether there was a halo release or not…
These teo franchises are so ahead of the pack they both could release shit dlc and it will sell….when it comes to these two franchises….halo ain’t even an itch in their pants man,,
Killzone and the rest…I agree..halo helped push those games…slightly more for kz as people put kz up against halo….and in graphics, kz destroys halo just as bad as halo destroys kz in terms on online features…
But…..kz is a phenomenon…in that it currently is the only game that can hang with crysis/crysis 2 graphics….

errr..you mean somewhat ‘Free’ Music with Ads. not 100% free when you have to be a Gold subscriber to access it.
Last.FM, Pandora and others treaming music services can be access on PSN via the web browser – 100% free on PS3.
You live overseas so you might want to check out VidZone withc is a music videos streaming app that completely free.. no strings attached like most services offered on Xbox.
Btw… Sony’s Music Ulimited is better than Last.FM.
It’s ads free and it lets you build and cloud-based music library (it also imports you local library to the cloud) that can be accessed on many devices including PS3, TVs, BD players, Andriod devices, PCs and Tablets.

I used to be able to connect to Grooves shark through the browser and that was a million times better than Last FM, Pandora ect……
There must have been a change with Groove shark as the PS3 browser no longer supports it. Quite disappointing.
Groove shark allowed you to choose songs..It was basically like a streaming free Rhapsody or Napster.

perosnally I think SFA3 is the most technical because of this:
-Everyone has at least 3 super moves (some of them have up to 5)
-Everyone has 3 different fighting style.
-It also has a parry system
-Lots of characters – all balanced (some characters in SF3 are useless)
-it has air-block, air-counter and air-recovey.
-block bar comes into play

Jojo– I attend Evo– I was there when he parried Justin’s Chun-Li. That’s famous, and every N00B should know about that….
But it does come down to fireball spam. At Evo the main game being played was Vanilla SF4 and SSF4 the past 3 years (and a new SSF4 is coming out, so undoubtedly, 4 will be the main game), and Daigo ONLY uses Ryu when he has to win– and he spams fireballs in SF4– I will pull a hundred vids off youtube for you.
But, Halo deserves credit for CoD too. No console shooter would be where it is if it weren’t for Halo. CoD wasn’t an online/multiplayer shooter before Halo. That’s what I’m saying

Good to see you know some sf…and yeah sf4 is a spamfest, due to the leeway of the combat system for noobs…
And sorry, CoD owes nothing to Halo….it was a renowned game on its own, via PC…it borrows absolutely nothing from Halo..quite the opposite….halo is nothing more than an amalgation of different games rolled into a very generic shooter…but, it pulls it off quite well via its multiplayer….but that’s pretty much where the praise ends….
What I’m trying to say is: halo only matters to xbox fans and that is it…even if you released halo on ps3….it wouldn’t make a splash like its halo fans wish it could….they even released halo on pc….and it didn’t even get nowhere near competing against bf/cod let alone doom3……
Face it, halo, when it comes down to seeing the absolute best shooters….is not even top 5…..it prob barely beats out killzone in the top 10….IF that..
Killzone and halos problem is they don’t offer the whole package….well neither does cod, only bf does….let’s compare:
Killzone: all about graphics…undisputed king of console fps graphics, solid/decent mutliplayer, decent single player..no destruction 2.0, no vehicles…
Halo: graphics are absolute crap…its not even a mentioning factor..at all..multiplayer features/gameplay is very robust( forge) and up there with the best, single player is decent but +1 for co op and online co op right? No destruction 2.0, but vehicles is a +1
COD: currently just a beast, top notch graphics, top notch single player, and top notch multiplayer….overall a solid package…but still falls short…no destruction 2.0…no vehicles…
Battlefield:
Top notch graphics, top notch multiplayer, decent at best single player, online/offline co op, destruction 2.0, vehicles…..this is the ONLY game currently that offers the near full package…I say near full because bc2 is only a lil bro spinoff off the real bf series…and bf3 is set to become the new king of fps….imagine all of the above…..now add planes/jets…
My bottomline is this: CoD/BF will have went along just fine if there was no halo or killzone for that matter..not even crysis…
The top dawgs of the FPS world are Battlefield and Call of Duty…and they only see each other as competition…just look at their comercials…CoD calls out no one…while BF calls out CoD all the time….halo/kz/insert fps, are mere pepple stones to which to walk over to get to these two…
I mean of course cod/bf see the other fps….but they see only each other to compete against…

Halo 2 needs to get on it’s knees and suck off Unreal Tournament (all of them) and Quake 3 Arena for all its ideas.
Halo 2 succeeded at being in the right place at the right time as far as console games are concerned.
I mention Halo 2, as Halo 1 wasn’t online. Just LAN….which again.. is a PC thing.
When mentioning the accolades of Halo it is imperative to end all sentences with a “On consoles” otherwise it looks foolish. Not saying you didn’t Capt..but you understand. Halo kind of represents MS in the best possible way. It represents the perfect copy cat of other games trying to garner some sort of respect since it was on consoles…
SOCOM series predates Halo 2 online BTW. Maybe all online console games deserve to owe their success to the SOCOM series…lol

The BF games are their own monster altogether. BF1942 came out one month after Halo 2.
The BF games represented a new genre. MMOFPS. They supported the most players over the largest maps for their time in a FPS.

COD owes it’s success to itself if you ask me.
It represents the first MP FPS games I could recall that you level up in and opens up perks and other weapon abilities.
Aside from being a great game, That feature, along with the Kill Cam distinguished it amongst the rest…
Other than those features, The COD games remind me the most of Soldier of Fortune 2 on the PC. Maybe a little of CS.

Hey guys my PS3 will for ever stay hack especially now that i can ban other PS3 owners if i have their console ID lol.
