Dead Island ‘revealed’ again – goes multiplatform
Today, developer Techland re-introduced Dead Island after several years under the radar. The game was initially announced back in 2007 for the Xbox 360/PC and hasn’t been mentioned since. The studio blew the lid wide open today by releasing a “debut” trailer with some amazing screenshots.
According to a press release, Deep Silver will be publishing Techland’s Dead Island, which has now gone multiplatform and will release on the PS3. The studio is most commonly known for the Call of Juarez franchise.
Dead Island is an open world zombie game with some RPG elements that revolves around four main characters. It does sound eerily similar to Left 4 Dead’s setup, but with very little details around the overall gameplay its difficult to tell at this point.
The official site for Dead Island went live today along with the teaser video and some in-game screenshots. The trailer is actually quite moving and will take you on an emotional rollercoaster.
The game is slated to release later this year, but with a fully stacked holiday season there is probably a good chance this game will get delayed into next year.

@Mike
I think you forgot to mention that this game may not be suitable for people with weak stomachs lol.
February 18th, 2011
This looks to be the best of the Zonbie games by a long shot. yet another great looking game to look forward to.

OH MY GOD. I have stopped in this hotel. 5 star my ass. 4 star at best. The place was full of Germans and the buffet wasn’t hot. Wont be going back.
February 18th, 2011
That’s terrible SW. .having to share a hotel with Germans. .and the food . . the food is only warm. .not hot. .
Life can be hard sometimes.. :^ )
I’m actually staying in the city just now, in a rather run down 4 star hotel. .(blood stains on the carpet, DVD player wont work, TV reception too bad to watch, water tastes like its from a swimming pool, etc etc. .but you know what. .the poor sods having to sleep in the street is kinda making me feel bad about how easy I got it. Even if I am paying too much money for what I’m getting.
February 18th, 2011
Was Call of Juarez any good?
February 18th, 2011
“I think you forgot to mention that this game may not be suitable for people with weak stomachs lol.”
Anyone with kids that doesn’t find that disturbing shouldn’t have kids.
February 18th, 2011
was anyonce else forced to read and accept the PSN policy & agreement yesterday?
February 18th, 2011
Yeah. I skimmed through it. It was like 100 pages though…
February 18th, 2011
same here. Took forever. LOL
February 18th, 2011
ncaissie : “Anyone with kids that doesn’t find that disturbing shouldn’t have kids”
Really!? C’mon. Its only a game (as far as I am aware). Zombies (as far as I am aware) aren’t real. The little girl in the game is (as far as I am aware) not real.
I have a kid (I know you all thought I was only 6, maybe still do…) and I am not disturbed by that trailer. The whole point of horror games and films is to give a little jolt to the heart, get your nerves all jangly etc… That trailer done that. Wouldn’t be a very good horror game if it made me feel like I was playing Kirby’s Dream or what ever.
Now, real life peados and murderers. That does make me feel a bit sick. But wont stop me having kids! (as far as I am aware)
February 18th, 2011
(as far as I am aware) Kirby’s Dream is shit.
February 18th, 2011
Don’t worry Mortal Kombat will own this game.
February 18th, 2011
I don’t see how this game is only suitable for people with strong stomachs? Weren’t that gory at all. I loved how they done the movie though, different and got me hooked straight away. I’ll get it if the gameplay looks good.
February 18th, 2011
I agree with Andrew 100%. .I have kids, and Have no issues with this kind of thing
I guess it’s being able to separate reality from fantasy. .
Watching the news is more distressing than watching any horror movie 99% of the time, kids or not.
February 18th, 2011
@oldschool
I said the thing about not for people with weak stomachs cause some people *coughncaissiecough* find it to be too disturbing.
February 18th, 2011
“Watching the news is more distressing than watching any horror movie 99% of the time”
I agree 100% there.

“I said the thing about not for people with weak stomachs cause some people *coughncaissiecough* find it to be too disturbing”
Everyone is different.. there was a guy here (Arvis) who though the blood and gore of Fat Princess was too much and was not needed for a cartoonish game.
February 18th, 2011
Yeah, some people are so sensitive.
February 18th, 2011
Yes, I had to do this agreement thing as well. I found this to be ridiculous.
February 18th, 2011
@Roca
“Everyone is different.. there was a guy here (Arvis) who though the blood and gore of Fat Princess was too much and was not needed for a cartoonish game.”
Like stuffing a princess full of treats as she becomes increasingly harder to move is entirely appropriate either? LMAO
If people are bothered by things like that in video games they would NOT want to be my friend because I would really get under their skin lmao. I think its really stupid to get so bothered by stuff like that.
As for the agreement I just started up my PS3 for the first time in a couple weeks and I had to do the agreement too. Of course the agreement probably has everything to do with the whole ban situation.
I kinda think its getting out of hand.
February 18th, 2011
@Phranc
I think several weeks ago you and I were talking about a game based on D&D for PSN, XBLA, and PC. I can’t rememeber the name. What game was that?
February 18th, 2011
Daggerdale?
That’s the name of one of the board games also, I think.
February 18th, 2011
Actually, yeah it is….
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons:_Daggerdale
February 18th, 2011
Thanks BJ
Im gonna have to make note of it cause its definately something I dont want to overlook.
February 18th, 2011
Have any of you guys actually played the board games?
I’ve never played one, but they look kind of cool. I don’t think I have any fiends who I could convince to play though.
February 18th, 2011
I’ve been playing Divinity 2: Ego Draconis on 360 and I just finished it up today (100% ach).
D2 was really enjoyable and there were some aspects that really reminded me of how D&D works and it really has me wanting more. I’m hoping that when Daggerdale comes out it will be an enjoyable experience that.
February 18th, 2011
@BJ
It’s been awhile since I played D&D. Getting most of my friends to sit down together can be a chore. And then on top of that the asshole of the group (Who also has the LEAST amount of patience and imagination of the group) always wants to be Dungeon Master.
February 18th, 2011
According to Wikipedia it’s planned as a trilogy.
I have DA: 2 Signature Edition on pre-order, but I might have to cancel.
Had to have some emergency work done on my car. We’ll see though.
February 18th, 2011
That trailer is one of the most poignant I’ve ever seen.
February 18th, 2011
Ha. People who are assholes and games don’t mix well together.
I’d really like to give it a try.I might pick up one day.
February 18th, 2011
I also have the DA2: SE on pre-order. I might cancel as well lol. Money is tight for me and I have to see if I can scrape it up by then. I’ pretty sure I will be able to though lol.
Too many friggin games that I want!
Beyond Good & Evil comes out Mar 2. At least that wont be very expensive and I already have some points on my XBLA account.
Dragon Age 2 and Warriors: Legends of Troy (Dynasty Warriors meets 300) both come out March 8.
Dynasty Warriors 7 comes out mar 22
Duke Nukem Forever May 3
LA Noire May 17
Dungeon Siege 3 May 31
These are some of the games I know i want over the next few months
February 18th, 2011
@BJ
D&D can cost a bit to get into, but when you do it is easily worth the money.
The books are expensive.
D&D isn’t the only game system out there either. I know there are several others that are just as good, cept maybe not as widely known.
I will share this one with you
http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/
Generic Universal RolePlaying System or GURPS.
Great name, i know! lmao
GURPS is highly customizable and a good start.
February 18th, 2011
That’s really cool, thanks. I can’t view the link here at work, but I’ll be sure to check it out when I get back home.
February 18th, 2011
“I have a kid ” Give it back or we’ll call the cops!
February 18th, 2011
I dont play D&D the game but I read all the books.
Knights contract come out feb22nd. Looks cool.
February 18th, 2011
I went to dinner with my parents and bother and his family one time.
After dinner we were going to the cars. We all got on the elevator and my mom says where’s Maggie? My 4 year old. So we freaked out ran around yelling for her and after a few minutes I called my brother. She ran off with him and his wife and told him we said she could. You wouldn’t believe the shit that goes through your mind when you think your kids was abducted. In the 6 years since none of my kids leave my side. I’m way over protective over them now. She is almost 10 and I still hate letting her go next door without watching her from the door.
So to see shit like that bugs me even though it’s obviously fake. Bothers me to watch shows like Law and Order SVU when kids are on there also.
February 18th, 2011
“I don’t see how this game is only suitable for people with strong stomachs?”
Stomachs has nothing to do with it.
February 18th, 2011
I haven’t played any D&D games. But I have a T-shirt that says “I’m not a geek I’m a level 12 paladin”
My boss got it for me for X-mas. He thinks I’m a geek. lol
February 18th, 2011
@ncaissie
If its fake, its fake. Your a gamer and you should know that.
One thing I certainly cannot recommend to you would be to look at crime scene photos involving kids.
I know a lot of people in police, including crime scene, and I have seen my fair share of crime scene pics.
One time a friend of mine showed me some pics involving an incident where the husband decided to kill his wife and 2 kids.
The pics themselves didn’t disgust me. What did was the idea that someone would actually to that to their own children.
February 18th, 2011
“XboxWhat did was the idea that someone would actually to that to their own children.”
I watched The Fourth Kind a while back and it showed real life footage of a guy doing that. It wasn’t natural.
February 18th, 2011
Still disturbing.
February 18th, 2011
“Knights contract come out feb22nd”
-same day as Killzone 3, Bulletstorm
-no advertisement
-nanco-publishied game
this could spell DOA next week.. we’ll see
February 18th, 2011
“One thing I certainly cannot recommend to you would be to look at crime scene photos involving kids.”
That would keep me up.
February 18th, 2011
“The pics themselves didn’t disgust me. What did was the idea that someone would actually to that to their own children.”
Exactly my thought.
February 18th, 2011
Knights contract? never heard of it.
February 18th, 2011
“If its fake, its fake. Your a gamer and you should know that”
I know many gamers that are/were scared of playing games like Fatal Frame, Silent hill, Dead Space and Siren…idk why because they were “gamers” and they knew it was “fake”
I understand why would someone find it disturbing. ncaissie is not whining about it he’s looking at things from a loving father’s point of view. no need to give him a hard time for that.
February 18th, 2011
“Knights contract? never heard of it.”
LOL you’re not the only one.
February 18th, 2011
@Roca
I just started playing Bioshock 2. I’m hoping I enjoy it as much as the first. Been playing for like an hour, so far so good.
February 18th, 2011
I got Bioshock 2 last June and I’ve only played about twenty minutes. Need to get into it soon . . . .
February 18th, 2011
@ Dans: I really hate to be the one to break this to you(It’s like telling a kid Santa isn’t real). But The Fourth Kind was entirely fiction, everything in it. The who ‘based on real events’ stuff in the trailers was made up for marketing reasons. The films kind of shit when you realize it’s bull.
February 18th, 2011
They can give me a hard time. I can take it like I dish it lol
February 18th, 2011
I picked up bioshock one. I’m going to get two also but I have a huge backlog and so many I want to get. I’ll post a wish list tomorrow. It is pretty sad. My gf always complains because I have such a huge list of shit to buy. And not just games.
February 19th, 2011
@ncaissie
Bioshock was awsome. Ive had it for years and beat it already but I went back to it recently because I had just gotten Bioshock 2. I wanted to re-experience Rapture and try to get 100% achievements before I played the second game.
I finished up Bioshock like a month ago and I took a break before playing 2. Thats when I got Alan Wake and about the time I beat that my friend gave me Divinity 2.
So now that I played those 2 I decided to start up Bioshock 2 finally.
Everytime I mention buying a new game my girl tries to bitch me out. I showed my current gen game collection here already, and I had exactly 100 Xbox 360 games (Ive added 5 since then lol) and there are many of those games that I have either not beaten or simple not played at all yet. My girl says thats just way too much.
I look at it the other way around. If anything happens and I can’t buy another game for awhile then im set for quite some time lmao.
February 19th, 2011
lmao this is awsome
Dragon Age: Redemption
What do you get when you combine one of the richest RPGs with the creator of one of the most watched web series of all time? Dragon Age™: Redemption. This all-new six-part web series is based in the Dragon Age universe and created by Felicia Day, the force behind the blockbuster web series “The Guild.” Scheduled to premiere this summer, Dragon Age: Redemption is set in the same time period as BioWare’s Dragon Age II.
Look for the world premiere of Dragon Age: Redemption this Wednesday, February 16, presented by Felicia Day on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC (check your local listings), and get your first on-set look at Dragon Age: Redemption on “Gametrailers TV with Geoff Keighley” on Spike TV, Thursday, February 24 (check your local listings).
“I’m a huge Dragon Age fan, and I have been looking for a follow up project to ‘The Guild’ for quite some time,” said Day. “I was thrilled when the opportunity to work with BioWare materialized. Dragon Age: Redemption allows me to tell a fantasy story in a new way, using a universe I really love. It has been a dream working together.”
In Dragon Age: Redemption, Day stars as Tallis, an Elven assassin hired by the Qunari to capture a rogue mage intent on wreaking havoc throughout the world. In her quest to find this dangerous mage, Tallis is joined by other companions who are not always aligned in their beliefs and goals, but who band together to defeat their foe, in an attempt to restore peace and balance to this dark fantasy universe.
Day’s original web series, “The Guild,” which follows the story of a group of players in a fictitious MMORPG, was an instant internet phenomenon, attracting more than 100 million viewers in three years. Day is also known as the main love interest, Penny, in Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and for her recurring role as Vi on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Regarding Bioshock 2… I have like 2-3 hours in it right now and I have to say that i’m a lil dissapointed so far.
#1 I’m not feeling the “Big Daddy” role.
In Bioshock Big Daddies are the baddest of the bad. Even though they are aggresive unless you attack them you still fear them. They are truly a force to be reconned with.
In Bioshock 2 you play as a Big Daddy… So why am I so weak then? Barely any health and on top of that I can take like what… 3 hits from an enemy before im almost dead? And this is on Normal difficulty.
I just feel… powerless! Playing as a big daddy should not feel so unrewarding.
#2 Bioshock 2 does not have the same amountg of ambience that made Bioshock such a hit in my book.
Case in point I know this might sound stupid to some but in the first game the vending machines had sound clips that you could hear when you bought from them or when you were nearby.
In Bioshock 2 the vending machines don’t play any sounds at all. I kinda miss the Circus of Values vending machine sounds. I know its a small thing but it really added to the ambience.
February 19th, 2011
^…even though the ARENT aggresive…
February 19th, 2011
Yeah. I liked Bioshock more than the sequel too.
The remote hack tool is nice though.
February 19th, 2011
Shit yeah, the remote hack is sweet.
As is the trap rivets. The machine gun feels kinda deadly too lol.
When things get rolling and I am actually able to feel more like im in the shoes of a big daddy then it gets better, but those moments are few and far in between.
February 19th, 2011
Oh and the research camera is kinda a nice change too
February 20th, 2011
“Everytime I mention buying a new game my girl tries to bitch me out.”
Lol mine always says do you need that? Lol she lays a guit trip on me. I’m not worried about not being able to buy games. EB games has a sale game every day and the games go for $5-$10 new. Most of the time it’s too good to pass up. A want the new games out but not at the new prices. Fuckin sly c is still $40.
