GDC: Sucker Punch reveals massive announcement about inFamous 2 Sucker Punch just announced something incredible about inFamous 2 that will have gamers around the globe drooling for the game right now. This new feature may be a game changer in this type of genre going forward if successful.

Earlier today Sucker Punch teased that the studio has been keeping something big a secret for nearly two years. The studio revealed that the secret would be revealed at GDC today in a tweet.

Sucker Punch has now revealed the secret and you will be shocked. Check out the trailer below to see what it is:

The details:

(I recommend you watch the trailer first before reading the details)

Sucker Punch will deliver an unprecedented user driven level/mission generator. The level creator has tools that will allow gamers to create various different mission types such as Defense, Escort, Search and Destroy, and Survival missions.

In addition to creating the missions, you will be able to place supporting NPCs like cops, and enemies as well as program their AI behavior. The trailer states and “much more,” revealing that the mission types are endless as you could create a shooting gallery, platforming, Obstacle course, or “whatever you can imagine.”

Near the end of the trailer it reveals something very exciting – a lobby or town square with tons of PSN user IDs along with their custom created levels which can be played online.

According to Sucker Punch there will be an advanced community feature that will allow gamers to share and rate user created missions. The studio will keep an eye out for the highest rated missions and feature them similarly to Media Molecule’s Top Picks in LittleBigPlanet 2.

To top this off Sucker Punch has announced that there will be a public beta that will start in April! More will be revealed in the coming days.

    Officially impressed.

Holy f**king sh*t that will to the reply value of the games and by the way finished all story missions, side missions and all the hero missions but I’ve to do the whole game again cos my PS3 died last summer (had to get a new one) so I have to do nearly all my games again.

  3. PS3 RULEZ890:

sorry I ment add to the reply value.

Awesome bang for the buck game, Only on PlayStation!
    Another first from Sony.

    Open-World-Sand-Box-Play-Create-Share Game(OWSBPCS)
Could not be possible with out the Blu-Ray Disc and free PSN account.

I think this free subscription model of the PSN is tailor made for the Play+Create+Share functionality of PlayStation games. It is really paying off because if PSN is not free this type of games won’t work very well.

I just hope you can customize coles apperance into the old Cole with the jyellow jacket or whatever costume just like in LBP2.

Games like these are very encouraging to future game developer wanna bes like moi.

This is easily the best thing to come from GDC. And to think, some of the speculation was sucker punch going multi platform!

Where have you been living? Under a rock?
This is in no way a first. LOL

On topic: I’m not convinced but I hope it turns out. I may buy this game. It depends on what else is out there at the time.

“I just hope you can customize coles apperance into the old Cole with the jyellow jacket or whatever costume just like in LBP2.”
LOL Do you have a crush on the guy? jk Who cares what colour his jacket is?

These are good for people who want to design games not develop them. Development is a totally different thing.

His Jacket is not coming back. Sucker Punch explained that the jacket would not make sense since Infamous 2 takes place in a warmer location.

    @ncaissie
too bad you couldn’t get use to the controls… I’m sure you will love this game since it has a great story and you love super hero and comic book stuff.

Infamous 2 will be even better, not only does it have electrical power but now you would also enjoy Ice & Fire abilities.

  12. ncaissie:

Sequels do get better some times. GOW just got better and better. The same with KZ.
I will likely get this one.

roca when did I say that this year. I don’t ever remember saying something like that so please elighten me on this little subject?

  14. Roca.:

    Gunstar said it, my bad.

  15. phranctoast:

Maybe someone will use this tool to make a proper sequel to crackdown ;)

  16. PS3 RULEZ890:

plus it was gunstar who stated that we should be allowed to customise cole in any way that we want.
    get your facts stright roca.

  17. Roca.:

    LMAO @ Phranc
poor CAD, he spent all summer playing that game..can’t blame him tho, there was nothing else to play.

  18. Roca.:

I like the fact that Sony is supporting creativeness to further expand the potential of its game.

Motorstorm Apocalyse will also have the same feature where ppl can created many different races/events, each with different goals, obtacles & finish line.

  19. phranctoast:

I much prefer this option over co op or MP.

In this scenario the single player experience will never end.

Don’t get me wrong, I love some MP, but how many instances had a DLC extra missions come out in a game, and you thought, damn, that’s so much better than having a couple of new MP maps to play on.

  20. ncaissie:

Wasn’t the dude from Uncharted wearing his jacket in the desert?

  21. ncaissie:

This option works great for MP more than SP mode.

  22. phranctoast:

“This option works great for MP more than SP mode.”

In your opinion. In mine, I much rather prolong the single player once the game is over.

And my opinion is coming from a person who’s created MP levels before in UT and am well aware of an extended MP community.

  23. ncaissie:

It didn’t work to well in Farcry on the console.

  24. PS3 RULEZ890:

    you mean on the xbox?

  25. phranctoast:

I assume you mean Far Cry 2?

And those were MP maps, not SP missions.

  26. PS3 RULEZ890:

This is great news now I can finally make my attack of the toilet people with the end of level boss being Kev and Cad.

  27. ncaissie:

    I meant 2. 1 on the xbox.

  28. ncaissie:

But Farcry on the PC was awesome and many greate MP maps.

  29. PS3 RULEZ890:

    Newflash
M$ have released some new details on the mind blowing Kinect title Michel Phelps: Push The Limit.
It will feature lots of swimming and a all new training mode to help people learn how to play the game properly and M$ have also released new details on their other 360 exclusive P.O.S from Po-Face Games
the story will revolve around a Xbot called Cadbo in his quest to save steve ballmer from the evil mightystation. stay tuned to find out more.

  30. phranctoast:

There’s many many modifiable PC games where tools exist to create maps. The UT family was my favorite but I wish I could of had the time to get into Jedi Knight map making.

MP mapping for the PC is nothing new. It is more difficult however to create single player missions than it is to create a mp map.

Sarcasm test: What do you think of PS3Rulez’ last comment? ;)

  32. Roca.:

    Sony just release Move.Me

“a new software application that provides academics and hobbyists access to PlayStation Move’s technology, enabling them to create entirely new applications using a PC, the Move motion controller, the PlayStation Eye, and the power of the PlayStation 3 system.

Move.Me is a server application that runs on the PS3 system. It allows anyone with a PS3 to experiment with motion controls and is officially sanctioned and supported by Sony Computer Entertainment. Move.Me sends the complete state of the PlayStation Move and navigation controllers to the PC, giving you the exact same data that licensed developers typically have access to.”

Ireland just defeated England by 3 wickets in the world cup, WTF

  34. ncaissie:

“Sarcasm test: What do you think of PS3Rulez’ last comment”
    I wouldn’t doubt it for sure. ;)

  35. ncaissie:

    @Roca
Until they find out someone hacked the server on the PS3 to run pirated games. Then they will kill it after someone spends 100s of hours developing something and can’t finish. LOL

  36. phranctoast:

The Kinect hacks have been much more innovative than anything that MS has been done with it. Hopefully we see some cool Move stuff from the community.

MS condoned the Kinect hacks, so it’s nice to see that Sony doesn’t mind the community experimenting with the Move and potentially given them more ideas.

It’s kind of funny, considering Sony’s stance on the Home brew people.

IMO, that confirms that it really isn’t about Home brew that pisses off Sony…It’s the Pirates.

  37. Roca.:

    @Phranc
Sony supported the homebrew community, that’s what Other OS was for – until ppl (GeoHotz) starting abusing it to circumvents the security of the PS3 and run pirated softwares. Looking at what the PSP has become I can understand why Sony acted the way they did…

  38. ncaissie:

“until ppl (GeoHotz) starting abusing it to circumvents the security of the PS3 and run pirated softwares.”
And this will happen to Move.me also. It sucks.

  39. ncaissie:

Correction: “In my opinion” It sucks.

  40. ncaissie:

“Computerworld – Google has pulled more than 50 malware-infected apps from its Android Market, but hasn’t yet triggered automatic uninstalls of those programs from users’ phones, security experts said today. ”
That sucks. One problem with lax security.
    http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9212598/Google_yanks_over_50_infected_apps_from_Android_Market?taxonomyId=85

  41. phranctoast:

No quality control. Gotta suck getting malware a phone. It has almost all your info.

  42. ncaissie:

Not much to the new Ipad2 two cameras, thinner and dual core. And a magnetic case will lock/unlock as you open and close it.

  43. ncaissie:

That is one thing I like about the Iphone and why I won’t hack it.

  44. Roca.:

“And this will happen to Move.me also”

I believe Sony has more control over a web application and can track all its traffic.

  45. ncaissie:

They had full control over the stuff running on the PS3 and PSP also. I hope you are right but I wouldn’t count on their security. No software is 100% secure.

  46. Roca.:

what can the do if they hack it? the web app it’s just full of tools for you to use to develop applications for the Move.

  47. phranctoast:

Someone will hack the camera to always be on and send them nuddy pics.

Gotta stop playing PS3 in the buff.

  48. Roca.:

    LOL

  49. ncaissie:

The server running on the PS3 to send the move info to the PC could be used to gain access to the PS3 just like web servers that host websites get hacked all the time.

  50. ncaissie:

“Someone will hack the camera to always be on and send them nuddy pics.”

You laugh but if they find a hole in the PS3 server and find a way to gain access to your PS3 Camera through your IP address it could happen. They could get a pic of you beating your wife.

  51. Roca.:

More info on Infamous 2 new mode.

  52. dans303:

    @roca

It’s cool that the user-created levels can be started from the in-game world.
