Download crazy: Mortal Kombat, Parasite Eve and Torchlight It’s a slow news week so far but there are some exciting game demos available across Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. Sony recently dropped a massive update and a game on XBLA has been getting some attention lately.

Sony dropped a huge update today bringing games like the first Parasite Eve to the PSN, with an announcement for the sequel as well. PS3 owners that are not PSN+ members will now have access to the amazing Mortal Kombat demo as well.

PS3 gamers can now pick up and enjoy the Crysis 2 Multiplayer demo from the PlayStation Store. Xbox 360 owners can also pick up Torchlight by Runic which came out last week.

Torchlight has been getting some attention for its Diablo-like gameplay delivering Runic’s best sale day in its history.

Gamers can finally experience a bit of Dance Central and You Don’t Know Jack as the demos for the two games have finally hit XBLA. Halo fans can pick up the Defiant map pack for a cool 800 ms points.

    Mortal Kombat baby!!!! The download is at 28%.

  2. dans303:

    You hear that Godless? You can now download the Crysis 2 MP demo on your >PS3<. :)

  3. Barnabe Jones:

    I missed Parasite Eve. I’d like to check it out, but I don’t think I’ll have the time to play it.

    I’m half thinking about checking out the sequel. Still want to check out Peace Walker, and Ghost of Sparta also.

  4. phranctoast:

    At the pace they’re bring out classic PSOne games, they should be updating those games with trophies.

  5. Godless:

    @ Dan
    “You hear that Godless? You can now download the Crysis 2 MP demo on your >PS3<. "

    It's ok, I already got it yonks ago :)

  6. Godless:

    Speaking of demos. .

    I played Super Stardust HD and I think the other was called was under garden or similar both great games, really tempted to buy them. I would even rate under garden more fun than LBP. .Mind you, having needles stuck in your nut sack can be more fun the LBP at times.

  7. phranctoast:

    SSDHD is pretty awesome.

    Thought the demo for Under garden was OK. Very pretty, but it also seems like a game that can be done with LBP2 with little trouble, and it would even likely score better than 67% on MC too.

  8. Roca.:

    LMAO @ Phranc ^

  9. phranctoast:

    Does XBL have the Mortal Kombat demo yet?

  10. Roca.:

    @Phranc
    idk I’ll check it out when I get home.

    Socom 4 beta was much much better than what I expected… now I’m really looking forward to it. Online mode was fun, addictive & full of surprises.

    @Godless
    I’m pretty sure Under Garden is more fun than Viva Pinata and Banjo Kazooie :)

    SSDHD is one of the best PSN games.

  11. ncaissie:

    “Dance Central”
    LMFAO Enjoy retards.

  12. twilight:

    The last time I heard Xbox live didn’t have the demo Phranctoast. The Mortal Kombat demo has been a special treat for Ps3 gamers. We got it first. The Ps3 version will be the definitive version of Mortal Kombat to get. I can’t wait to play the demo.

  13. Roca.:

    Has anyone here seen the movie Battle: Los Angeles?
    The movie is awesome and the leaked Resistance 3 billboard was present in the movie. couldn’t they just CGI’ed the billboard?

    http://www.zath.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/resistance_3_billboard-242×242.jpg

  14. Roca.:

    @Twilight
    at least you guys got the demo for Dance Central and You Don’t Know Jack :)

  15. ncaissie:

    “you guys”
    LMAO

  16. FahKinSuPah:

    Not surprised that no one here said anything about Torchlight since its all PSfanboys here.

    IMHO Torchlight is hit and miss.

    If you like games similar to Diablo then you will probably enjoy Torchlight.

    There is one HUGE problem with Torchlight in my book though.

    The game is unfortunately single player only.

  17. SW:

    Woot MK was better than I thought it was going to be. And damn the game has some great ‘thuds’ when you land hits.

    Hate how they tease the Goro fight tho :(

  18. Roca.:

    @FahKin
    no one here is talking about Slam Bolt Scrappers either.

  19. phranctoast:

    Wait… Isn’t Torchlight a two year old PC game?

    Passes out from excitement! ;)

  20. phranctoast:

    Slam Bolt Scrappers was a PSN highlight game at E3 2010.

    Got a very good response.

  21. phranctoast:

    @Fahkin
    Pick up Daggerdale when it hits PSN/XBLA. I play that with you.

  22. ncaissie:

    I don’t recall seeing torchlight. Is it on PSN?
    I downloaded the other demos. I loved Diablo.

  23. FahKinSuPah:

    @phranc

    No its not a 2 year old PC game. It’s more like 18 months lol.

    Believe me, i’ve already talked shit about Torchlight for that too.

    You mean to tell me it took 18 months to port it over to XBLA and the couldn’t add multiplayer? Bullshit.

    Don’t get me wrong. Its a good game though… its just that it could have benefited ALOT from Multiplayer capability.

    And also a better price point. It’s not something i would pay $15 for

  24. FahKinSuPah:

    @phranc

    Im definately getting Daggerdale. May 3rd I think. Not sure though, so dont quote me later.

    @ncaissie

    Torchlight isn’t on PSN

  25. ncaissie:

    Ok
    I’m not big on PSN games. There is one Tomb raider game that is a top down game like Diablo. I think I will buy that this week.

  26. Roca.:

    is Slam Bolt Scrappers on XBL?

  27. phranctoast:

    They should have probably concentrated on Torchlight 2 since that’s about to come out on PC this year.

  28. phranctoast:

    I wont quote you, but the newly revealed date for me prompted a search and it appears you’re correct.

    May 3rd!

    sweeet.

  29. phranctoast:

    @Ncaissie
    Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

    I planned on getting that, but I never got around to it. The demo was pretty good.

  30. phranctoast:

    @Roca

    PSN exclusive.

  31. FahKinSuPah:

    Daggerdale will most likely be $15 but it looks like it will be worth the price.

    I was dissapointed to find out that Torchlight is only 1p. Its the kind of game I would really enjoy playing with my girl.

  32. phranctoast:

    Anyone hear when Beyond Good and Evil HD will come out on the PSN?

    I kinda hate some of these XBLA promotions that allow the XBLA version on a game to come out, and stop any mention of when the PSN version will come out.

  33. Barnabe Jones:

    Speaking of which, I picked up a D&D game – The Wrath of Ashardalon. I played over the weekend. It was really good. It’s basically a turn based RPG, but in board game form. Definitely a lot more fun than Monopoly. :)

  34. ncaissie:

    LOL @Fahk I can think of better games you could(should) play with your girl.

  35. FahKinSuPah:

    @phranc

    I heard something about the XBLA version was easier to program BG&E for and there was a few setbacks on the PSN version.

    Dunno how true that is.

  36. FahKinSuPah:

    @BJ

    I love D&D. I wish I knew more people IRL who were into it. lol

    @ncaissie

    I think i get your meaning, and I will say that she has been a bad girl lately. Not that kind of bad, but the actual bad lol. So she is being punished lol.

  37. FahKinSuPah:

    I have about 40 hours into Dragon Age 2 now and I am very close to the end.

    I’m getting bored of it already though. It sucks.

    Its just not as good as the first

  38. Barnabe Jones:

    I have about 15 hours in to it. I’ve been just doing side quests. I haven’t even done the Deep Roads expedition yet.

    It’s not bad, but I kind of agree.

    Why did they think that having all of the quests in the same few areas was a good idea? You even revisit caves and other small areas multiple times. Why?

    I haven’t scratched the surface of the main story arc, so I can’t comment there. The characters and side quests are interesting.

    From what I’ve scene so far, it seems like level design (or lack of) is the game’s biggest flaw.

  39. Barnabe Jones:

    Oh also not being able to equip armor to party members.

    AND the item box!!! I’m glad they didn’t cut it out for DLC again, but it’s useless. WHY can’t I compare items in the box to my what’s equipped in my party?!?!?!

    It’s designed so that you have to retrieve the item (solo), then exit your house, then choose the party member, then choose an area, AND THEN I can compare. WTF seriously?

  40. twilight:

    Lol @ Roca. I’ve been on Psn with you and the rest of the Ps3 people. Ps3 gamers don’t play shovelware
    I just came out of a meeting. I just got a raise. I will be getting more money. This is so cool.

  41. Roca.:

    “I’m getting bored of it already though. It sucks.
    Its just not as good as the first”

    no wonder it go low reviews.
    I have yet to open my copy of DA2.

    Seems like Bioware is not perfect after all.

  42. phranctoast:

    @Fahkin

    I heard, in order for a game to be promoted as part of the XBLA spring..ect, they needed to be exclusive for a little bit.

    For companies it’s great, as it’s constantly free promotion. It sucks if you want the game on the PS3 though.

    They did this for Lara Croft also. Maybe that’s why I didn’t buy that yet. I’m subconsciously pissed at the developer for folding to MS demands.

  43. ncaissie:

    @Fahk
    LOL enjoy it while you can. Once you have kids you have to sneak into the laundry room once in a while(a long while) lol

  44. Barnabe Jones:

    Lara Croft also shipped unfinished for all platforms. They didn’t have the online component done until a few months after it released. Rushed?

    The demo was pretty good though. It was a lot of fun to play local co-op.

  45. dans303:

    @bj

    Does GoL have online co-op?

    I have the game but haven’t played in months (too many other games) but I have been meaning to get back to it though. It’s well worth a purchase.

  46. Barnabe Jones:

    Yeah it does now I think. It didn’t when it launched however.

    I thought the demo was great. I’ll have to pick it up at some point.

  47. phranctoast:

    @Fahkin,
    It turned out I may be right. It could be an exclusive as part of XBLA house party promotion.

    Hard Corps uprising also appeared to be pushed back a month for PSN users. Feb 15th for XBLA and March 15th on PSN.

    BG&EHD got a PSN release date in May.

  48. The Future of Sega:

    Twilight,

    You should have got a promotion. Not only would you get a new position but a pay raise would be negotiable as well. :D Anyways glad to hear the good news!

    Guys,

    This Mortal Kombat demo is awesome out of AWESOME! I am a GIGANTIC fan of Mortal Kombat!!!!
