Retailers pin new date for Splinter Cell HD Trilogy
Early this year it was revealed by Ubisoft that a Splinter Cell HD Trilogy would be making its way over to the PS3 this summer. However, even though the publisher haven’t committed to a firm date yet, there is strong indication that it may be in a couple months.
The HD Splinter Cell Trilogy will include: Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. The game will have HD graphics, 3D Stereoscopic support and trophy support.
I have fond memories of playing these titles on the original Xbox and looking forward to playing them in remastered HD glory. The games will be ported from the PC version, which contains extra content and rich details never seen on the console versions (PS2, Xbox, GC). Unfortunately, the remastered collection will not come with the multiplayer modes most likely due to server maintenance.
The game was suppose to come our around June timeframe, but Ubisoft has yet to reveal an exact date. However, it was reported by Joystiq that retailers (Amazon, GameStop and GameFly) all have updated the listing with an August 2nd date recently.
The fact that its a very specific date may be a strong indicator that the retailers have a new release date. The game is being offered via retailers at a starting price of $38.99 for pre-orders.

Even if this game was $60, itd be a really good deal. $38 would be crazy.
I could careless about the online. It just means online trophies, those are just too much for just a game.
Plus, when you buy a game, it should be for the single player- The whole reason why the game is even made…or was atleast.
I love seeing remade PS2 games in HD. I was so impressed with the God of War Collection. It actually almost felt like a PS3 game.
Id love to see and play this one now
Its like a Metal Gear Solid game.

What does everyone think about it?

I don’t want online, never played online with any Splinter Cell game, interested in the campaign only. I can’t understand why anyone would complain about the lack of online on last generation games.

@ MAK: As much as I adore Splinter Cell, it has nothing at all on Metal Gear Solid. Its not even in the same league! Greatest games ever, the MGS series and the fourth is the pinnacle of all gaming.

@oldschool
I said it was “like” MGS lol
MGS has a stealth type gameplay. I believe SC does too. As well as Rainbow Six and Syphon Filter, etc.
But yeah. The MGS series is just amazing.

@Ivan
Oh yeah. GTA Trilogy would probably be the best remastered trilogy to come out behind the MGS series. The games themselves arent that great, but the gameplay is amazing. I actually loved the GTA III story mode to be honest though. And it is the best GTA. Vice city is the worst. The only thing i love about it, is that it kept the feeling of GTA III. San Adreas and GTA IV dont have that.
And whats the big deal about SOCOM?

Socom on PS2 was offered the best online experience and most realistic military online shooter

@Roca
Online is not what real gamers play
Im not referring to you. lol

GTA Vice City is the best GTA. The GTA series has master perfect with the exception of GTA IV which was great but the character felt too awkward and driving kind sucks.
SOCOM is the great third person shooter series ever made. Zipper used to make awesome SOCOM games now they are just a crappy developer.
SOCOM 1 & 2 is what UNCHARTED 1 & 2 is to PS3.

You dont know your games. And you dont know what a good game is.
All you do is ramble on about your personal preference and opinions.

Meta critic scores for GTAs:
GTA III- 97
GTA Vice City- 95
GTA San Andreas- 95
GTA III is the best. And id take San Andreas over Vice City any day. More to do, More content, And your character didnt look like a stick.
GTA IV is part of a new era where games are more complex and are expected to be great. Id say it did pretty damn well.
Driving was flawless? One of the best driving engines ive ever played.

GTA is one of my favorite series and I already knew the metacritic score since ages ago. I just don’t like one thing about GTA IV is the way the character controls everything else is perfect.
The games I like are all high profile A++ exclusives or multiplaform.

I know what you mean about the character controls. Stiff, right? I could compare the walking in that game to walking in Heavy Rain.
Im sure you do, but when it comes down to distinguishing the best from the best, it comes down to personal preference.

Vice City is my personal favorite, it has the most beautiful city and a more interesting story
San Andreas was just too ghetto.
