Microsoft is continuing to ride the Kinect train after reporting a great quarter due to the device. The company plans to triple the game portfolio for the device by the end of 2011.

Its no secret that Lightbox Interactive is working on something big, as chronicled by studio president Dylan Jobe. It appears that the studio is getting ready to make a big announced later today. However, some screen shots of the game may have been leaked ahead of schedule.

The first half of 2010 was filled with psychological thrillers such as Alan Wake and Heavy Rain. These games helped show that the genre is viable as a video game medium. It appears that the developers of Alan Wake are currently working on the next installment of the franchise.

The trope “kick them while they are down” probably fits nicely under Sony’s logo right about now. As reported earlier, the company faces a bit of a PR nightmare as many news outlets seem to be reporting misinformation around when PSN will be brought back online.

The big news today is around Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype for a cool $8.5 billion. However, Microsoft also outlined plans to bring the service across several of its products including the Xbox 360.

Its seems like Sony has its work cut out for it as many online sites and journalists have been misreporting “news” regarding the events leading up to the PSN security breach and afterwards. It’s difficult to fault Sony of miscommunication as these “reports” seem to crop up from unreliable sources.
