Sony: PS3 exclusive Sorcery still in development

Sony: PS3 exclusive Sorcery still in development The most interesting game out of the PS3 Move lineup from last year’s E3 was probably Sorcery. However, the game was missing in action at this year’s E3, leading many to speculate the game’s cancellation.

Sorcery is an action adventure game with a magic theme. The game plays out in third person view. The game received a bit of attention at E3 last year as a hardcore game built around the use of the Move controller. This is in contrast to hardcore games with the Move controller tacked on.

Check out the video demonstration from last year’s E3 below:

Some speculated that Sorcery may have been canceled as Sony did not even mention the game during E3. According to Dealspwn, a Sony PR exec, has confirmed that the game is under development currently.

The game was originally slated for spring 2011 but there is no word of a new release window. There is a rumor that the studio, The Workshop may be making some major changes to the game in order to push the title as an AAA game after the positive reaction from the media.

Hopefully the positive reaction at E3 was a sign to devote more resources to the game, which led to the longer development.

The demo did seem a little basic, but showed a lot of promise.

As long as it’s not one of those on rails bs games.
Move works if the game is slow paced like this or harry potter.
For games like kill zone 3 I don’t think it does. You need that second stick for view even if you still use the move for aiming.
I still want to try the gun. :(
If not on rails I will buy this game on day one.

    Fable, The journey anyone?

    ‘Fable, The journey anyone?’

    @ Godless:

No, this game is not on the rails. Plus, Sorcery was announced and shown first, so in reference to an earlier Fable: The Journey article:

‘Sorcery, anyone …except on the rails and limited?’

‘For games like kill zone 3 I don’t think it does. You need that second stick for view even if you still use the move for aiming’

    @ caissie:

I think Move worked awesome with Killzone, it seemed like a natural extension of the game. I don’t remember using the analogue stick for viewing, all aiming and turning was done with the dildo.

Elite mode was a breeze because of it, I died twice in the whole playthrough and only due to my Mrs trying to talk to me.

I wish more FPS would implement it the same way K3 did. RE5 you had to use the analogue stick to view …I think you got the two mixed up.

  5. ncaissie:

That’s my point OS. There needs to be two sticks. One to walk the other to move the view. The dildo doesn’t work well if someone is shooting you from behind. You have to move the cursor to the edge og the screen and wait for it to spin around behind you. If you speed it up you loose control. That is what I found. I haven’t used the gun yet though.

I’m not 100% sure but I think there’s an input for a quick 180 degree turn around..

    “Fable, The journey anyone?”

I’m confused by this statement. Are you insinuating a game that was announced a year before Fable The Journey is ripping it off?

  8. Roca.:

Fable 3 wasn’t even out when Sorcery was announced.

I’m really hoping for Sorcery to be a good game, the main concept seems cool and fun….on the other hand, Fable the Journey E3 demo was a joke and we have Molyneux making all kinds of excuses and trying to backpedal its way out of that mess lmao…

Just when the xbots were giving shit for listings the metacritic score of Fable 3 Molyneox came out to support my statements:

-Peter Molyneux admits that he feels “pretty ashamed” of Fable III’s Metacritic score.

-Molyneux said: “I look at Fable III, and it’s hard to be completely honest without offending people (like Godless was when I was being ‘honest’ lol), but I know, when I read in the middle of a review that said the quality just wasn’t good enough, I actually agree with those reviews”

    I accept your apologies ;)

  9. Mike Ferro:

I believe this game is fixed view, meaning your view changes as you walk left to right as there really is no need to look up or down.
Not really god of war but think syphon filter on the psp.
