Analyst: Xbox 360 doesn’t have the best exclusives
Microsoft boss, Dennis Durkin recently made some comments about the state of the company’s first party studios. He stated that Microsoft has the best first party lineup when compared to the competition.
This comment sparked a bit of controversy amongst gamers, with some feeling that Nintendo or Sony may have a better portfolio when it comes to first party developed games.
Wedbush analyst, Michael Pachter told IndustryGamers that he disagreed with Durkin’s assertion. He stated, “Dennis is a great guy, and is paid to be loyal to his Microsoft family. I think Nintendo’s first-party content is vastly superior to either other console manufacturer’s, and don’t think that either Sony or Microsoft would really dispute that."
He then added, "As far as who is better, Sony or Microsoft, I’m not sure why anyone cares about my opinion. I have all three consoles, and love Sony first party titles like God of War, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Little Big Planet and the upcoming Twisted Metal, and I love Microsoft first party titles like Halo, Forza, Fable, Alan Wake and Gears.”
I believe this is a difficult question to answer and could change depending on when this is asked. The game portfolios change dramatically each year for the big three console manufacturers.

I would rate Sony & MS above Nintendo
I’ve just never really got into Nintendo games, not sure if it’s because I’m a “little”. . .OK . .a LOT! older but they just don’t appeal to me, there always seams to be something similar but better on the other machines.
I also don’t like the simplistic, cartoon graphics, Partly due to the lack of processing power and mostly due to Nintendos game styling. . just not my cup of tea

Mario, Zelda, Metroid are all pretty unique games. Sure, the formula for most of their games hasn’t changed much since the N64, but they’re still fun. Also there’s nothing on PS3 or 360 that’s like them.
Kinect – shit.
Halo & Forza – meh.
Gears & Allan Wake – good.
I think Nintendo its self is a hot mess, but that’s another argument.

Nintendo’s game are great and fun to play…but I don’t think they offer better exclusives than Sony, Pachter most likely said that to avoid attacks from fanboys… But also I think he’s putting Nintendo above all by taking into account the shit load of first party portable game Nintendo has (which isn’t fair)
Nintendo best titles are Zelda, Mario, Metroid and Pokemon… They also have other great titles like Mario Kart, Smash Bros & Donkey Kong – The reason they have not been that great on the Wii is because of the dated online network, motion control and shitty graphics.

If MS still had Bioshock and Mass Effect then there might be room for arguement but Sony def has more titles at present.
Tho that being said there aren’t that many games that ps3 has that would appeal to me,maybe heavy rain. Never saw the attraction of GOW……a semi naked man running around, preferred Devil May Cry back in the day.
More epic AAA games like Bioshock and Mass Effect please MS.

Mario Galaxy was worth playing. It is probably the best platformer that I have ever played.
But, I suppose if the game doesn’t have a firearm/sword/knife in it, most people aren’t interested these days. And fuck you if you DARE use any bright colours. The except to this is if bright colours are used for blood gushing out of a fresh gunshot wound is good, it’s ‘cool’ even.
My only real complaint with Nintendo is that some games they rehash (like mario) and create masterpieces, other (like Zelda) are very hit and miss for me. I never finished TP because I just felt like I’d been there and done it all before and got bored.
At the same time tho, I’d be a sucker for a new Metroid Prime…

I’m up to Gannon’s castle in Twilight Princess. Never finished it either.
As much as I enjoyed it, it is a re-hash of Ocarina.
The Prime series is amazing, but I couldn’t help but to feel disappointed after beating 3. “Mission Complete”… that’s it! Seriously?!?! It’s a shame they didn’t do a better job with the story/character in Other M. They messed that up big time.

Unfortunately Other M was done by a different dev studio than the Prime trilogy. The Prime trilogy was amazing. Even though the first 2 games came out on Gamecube they were definately worth re-visiting on the Wii with the new motion controls.

I wish Prim3 had stuck with the atmosphere of metroid in general.
Prime 1 made me feel like I was on a mysterious planet, alone, reading tidbits of information about wtf had happened etc by scanning shit with my visor. Awesome gaming experience.

Yeah, I played the first Prime when it first came out on GameCube. I picked up the Prime Trilogy for Wii a few months ago.
Played though the entire thing. One game after the other. I forget exactly but I think it was around 60-ish hours.
I know Team Ninja did Other M. It was an ok game, but they really screwed up the chance of having a flushed out Samus. Doubt Nintendo is going to try it again.

The Prime Trilogy was just incredible. I really hope that Retro Studios gets to work on some more Metroid games. Having released the MP trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns (Which is a pretty good game) I think that Retro has proved itself.

Sony > Nintendo > M$.
Sony has thee best quality exclusives on the market right now. PS2 had over 1000 games that were all fun, but still high quality. PSone was simply the start of it all.
Not to mention, Sony/PlayStation was the brand who brought some of the biggest innovations that we see today in every console.
Nintendo, currently, isnt nintendo anymore. It seems like they are trying to force themselves into the next gen era. Nintendo was a classic brand and should stay that way.
Their exclusives back then were fun, simple, and addicting. Thats what Nintendo was.
Now we have stupid App games stealing Nintendo’s title.
M$ is a Sony & Apple wanna-be. They always try to go into someone elses lane, steal ideas, compete, then they go back into their own lane when they find out they cant complete. M$ is a dynamic brand bc of that.
Xbox 360 exclusives are only good bc the hype that made them famous. Kinect sucks, too. I say that bc they are only focusing on that atm.
Only a dumbass says M$ has the best line ups.
Nintendo & Sony have been in the running much longer. Plus, there are charts that say Sony has the best exclusives based on scores. For many years too.

Let me put my 2 cents in now, shall I?:
5. Co-operative Campaign- Naughty Dog could have EASILY done this you know, right?
They kept it single player so faggots dont ruin the amazing cinematic experience that the game is known & praised for. Play at your own pace and enjoy it.
Putting the OPTION of Co-op is still a risk. Thats why Naughty Dog added cinematic experience to the multiplayer also. You still get it while gaming with your friends without ruining the story mode.

3. A Tighter Online Package- This was so irrelevant to comparison with U3. All they talked about was how the first 2 Gears had shitty multiplayer. uhh, Congrats. it took 2 games to get a standard, acceptable multiplayer going. Even U2 had a better online experience. It was the first multiplayer on the series too. U3 has a better “online package” in ny opinion.
Its well made and has better things in it. It even has Facebook integration, gameplay recording, customizations, and so on….like is this person dumb?
2. Horde Mode- U2 and U3 has and will have this moron. Its just not about aliens and mindless gore….and its more challenging.
Though i will admit, i loved playing Gears 2 horde mode with my friend.
1. Better Competitive Multiplayer- This is clearly the most opinionated. A cinematic multiplayer is more exciting than simple run & gunning technique no matter how many times you play it. How can it get boring? We see the same openning and closing every time we win/lose a CoD match. The same music is played and so on. No one cares.
But honestly, i get so fucking tired of seeing the same shit on Gears. Sprint, roll, sprint, roll, aim sniper at head, zoom, shoot & miss, sprint, dodge, reload, roll, etc.
Thats ALL people do on Gears. I forgot to mention Slide to cover and Jump over cover.
One last thing:
“Those of you who don’t normally bother with multiplayer would be better off sticking with Naughty Dog’s title, but if you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck, Epic’s Gears of War 3 is the way to go.”
If youre looking for the best game with better quality and a better experience, U3 is the way to go……oh and you forgot the word “For” at the beginning of that sentence.

About the gears of war 3/uc3 comparison..
how the hell are the games even comparable? One is a fun AAA game full of blood soaked violence, with a decent storyline, and if the past is any indication, an okay multiplayer experience…
The other is a genre defining, award winning, graphical benchmark setting, action adventure movie experience, with some fun, if at times bullet sponging multiplayer thrown in there..
Seriously, my niece would had done a much,better comparison between each,of the respective consoles big hitters….theres plenty of valid, good reasons to own each franchise over the other…
In fact, this write up makes me not want to get gears 3! If I haf,a 360, id look at that write up and say…well multiplayer ia nice, but is,that all gears 3 offers??pass!!

IMO the only comparison these games really share is similar MP.
They also come out over a month from each other so there really shouldn’t be issues with where you spend your money like suggested in the article.

imo I think the single player of Gears was good at the time it came out (2006) but it has evolve very little since then…Other games has raise the bar in terms of single player experience why Gears is just shoot, chainsaw, gore and nothing else. I played a little of Gears 2 single player but it felt like like the previous one and it didn’t grab me as other games have.
in 2006 Gears’s controls were pretty ahead of its time but now it feels date. Why can’t you look back or run sideways? or run backwards and shoot forward?
Uncharted 2 clearly improved and perfected the 3rd person shooter controls scheme that Gears started

I’ll take those features like Cross Game chat and Party chat that make Online gaming the best on Xbox Live over a few more exclusives on the PS3 anyday. They have no idea how important and good it is for Online gaming and how it makes for a better social networking experience. There are more then enough First/Third/XBLA games to play that all embrace this functionality in Xbox Live so I don’t need to get a PS3 just to play a few more games that will not even have the best online experience. My online experience/features will always be there but those few PS3 exclusives will come and go.

Why do you want to talk to someone playing a different game than you? To me that’s annoying. As it is I get annoyed when I’m playing one game and someone messages me to play another game. If I wanted to play that game, I’d be playing that game.
The fact of the matter is, chat works fine on PS3.
Video chat (you know the thing you think Kinect invented) works fine on the PS3 too.

Chatting with buddies who are playing diff. games is good imo. I’ve known guys in the clan I am in for 5 years now and I don’t just join Vent to play a particular game with ‘em.
It only gets a bit much when you have two people or more playing the same game. The cross talk from that game generally ends up in those two folks moving to another channel because it just gets too confusing.

I could see the party chat as a plus for clan organization. Everyone get on one channel, and then start the game, rather than the other way around.
