Nintendo president takes blame over 3DS sales
Nintendo recently announced a massive price cut for the 3DS in light of lackluster sales during Q1. Nintendo’s president and CEO Satoru Iwata stated that he will shoulder the brunt of the blame.
In a rare move, Iwata told Japanese newspaper, Nikkei, that the blame for poor early 3DS sales lies with him. As reported by Kotaku, he stated, “I feel heavily responsible for this kind of announcement we had to make.”
He added, “For cuts in fixed salaries, I’m taking a 50 percent cut, other representative directors are taking a 30 percent cut, and other execs are taking a 20 percent cut."
According to reports, Iwata’s salary is approximately $2 million and design lead Shigeru Miyamoto’s is $1.2 million. Rarely do CEOs shoulder the blame of a failed product as its usually shifted to someone lower on the totem pole. Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer has been criticized in the past for blaming management over lackluster sales in the mobile division and around the complete failure of the Kin.

Now if the U.S. President, Congressman, and Senators could all take the same type of action, I might be more inclined to vote for them. Granted, their “salary” isn’t nearly as much as Iwata’s, but most probably take in more on the side, and it’s the principal of the matter.

Nintendo has always and will always suck at at everything video games like Microsoft well maybe not that bad. They made a crappy system for this generation call Wii and a lot retarded people liked it the idea of the motion crap and purchased the system to use for like 5 minutes and resale it or trash it. As for the 3DS that’s a no brainer come 3D on handheld without glasses lmfao. PlayStation Vita will crush Nintendo 3DS and PS3 will kill Wii U… Nintendo made like a million different DS to sell 140 million DS pathetic.
