PlayStation Vita launching in early 2012 across US and EU
During E3 this year Sony revealed that the PlayStation Vita would have a “phased global rollout” starting this year. It appears that this roll out will start in Japan and work its way to the U.S.
According to MSN Money, Sony boss Kaz Hirai revealed that the PlayStation Vita will go on sale by the end of the year in Japan. He also confirmed that the Vita will launch early next year across the U.S. and Europe. According to rumors, the Vita may launch as early as January 2012.
Hirai revealed that the timing of the release was based around the software offerings so gamers will have a solid lineup available upon launch. This was definitely one of the main issues the 3DS faced with many criticizing the lack of games.
Hirai did not provide a firm release date yet as its expected to be revealed this month at Gamescom. He did deny rumors of a price cut in reaction to Nintendo’s 3DS price drop.
He stated:
We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable… There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.

how can ppl expect Sony to lower the price when they will be selling it at a loss.
Just because Nintendo was charging twice as much for their handheld doesn’t Sony is doing the same.

Seems at least $100 off of what people expected considering the tech inside.
