Gamescom 2011: PS3 price cut to $250 and inFamous 2 300GB bundle announced
Gamescom is in full swing currently and Sony just wrapped up its press conference with a bang. Andrew House, the newly promoted head of World Wide Studios at SCE, announced a price drop for the PS3.
House took stage right before ending the conference and revealed that the PS3 will receive a surprising price drop of $50, bringing the price of the base console from $300 to $250 for the 160GB SKU. The 300GB PS3 SKU will now be priced at $300.
In addition to the price drop announcement, Sony announced a new hot bundle that will come with the 300GB PS3 and a copy of inFamous 2 for $300.
Even though many speculated that Sony might announce a price drop at Gamescom, the announcement certainly came out of left field and surprised everyone. Normally, retailers will receive the new price point ahead of time leading to leaked screenshots. However, it appears that Sony did a great job in keeping this nugget a secret.
Some speculate that Microsoft may in turn respond with a price drop of its own for the Xbox 360.

I think Deus Ex will be a great game as well. I pre-ordered this game already.

Its so funny. Microsoft got owned so bad with this price drop.
If you were thinking about buying a 360, youd have 400 saved up for the system, XBL, and tax.
If you buy a PS3, youd have over 100 dollars left to buy a up to 2-3 games.
Buying a 360 is so pathetic. Seriously, if you just look at the logic here.

What’s worse is that the 360 uses cheap hardware and does have many of the feature the PS3 does and it’s also a year older and somehow the PS3 beat it in price.
I mean, not only do the Xbots have to pay for what everyone else get for free (online play) but they also have to pay for an ancient consoles with less features LMAO

Lol @ Roca. It’s true though there is no 360 game to match that handheld game. I even watched it on my HDTV then, in full screen and it looks exactly the same. The argument of “it looks that good because it’s on a tiny screen” is bull because I just seen it on my big screen TV.
