Gears of War 3 map pack will be free to those that wait
The Horde Command Pack became available today which brings a ton of new content to Gears of War 3. The pack will include new maps, characters, weapons and achievements. For those that wait Epic Games will offer most of that stuff for free later this month.
As announced by Epic Games, The Horde Command Pack is finally available today after experiencing some “technical issues” making the pack (unlock file) available over Xbox Live. There was some controversy over this pack as all of this stuff is already on the Gears 3 disc, locked.
The pack includes – Azura, Rustlung, and Blood Drive, three new playable characters, new fortification upgrades for Horde mode and weapon skins all for $10, unless you purchased the season pass ($30).
For those that wait, Epic Games will make the three new maps, including Bullet Marsh and Clocktower free on November 24th as part of its Versus Booster Map Pack. This booster pack will not include the new playable characters, fortification upgrades, skins and achievement points.
While it may suck to pay for stuff already on the disc, its great that Epic Games will be making some of this stuff free later on this month.

If it was up to Epic, all their DLC would be free. They supported the PS3 version of UT3 well in this regard. It’s a shame this franchise is only available on the nickel and diming machine.

I remember that awesome DLC for UT, it added content that made the game twice as long and it was totally free. I think Ms wanted to charge people for free content, right? Did it go onto Live?
November 2nd, 2011
They also added in m/kb support which was freaking awesome
And yes os, epic was always known for releasing free dlc and supporting the mod community…its a shame they have now joined the ranks of the likes of square….all in it for the money now….thanks MS your pockets are indeed deep…

too bad Microsuck’s retarded money making policies make Epic look really bad. I cant wait for their first post -Microsuck game on the PS3. Then they will be duking it out with Naughty Dog on a level battlefield on the PS3 platform.
Naughty Dog versus Epic Games on PS3!
Uncharted versus Epic Games’ Third person shooter on the PS3!
That would be epic!
Bring it on Epic!

I guess even the xbot crowd agrees with us here. There lack of voice can only signify that. I knew they’d finally get their heads out of their asses for once. Congrats Xbots for seeing the light.

It does say the map pack will be free to download.
The issue with UT seams like a bit of a farce, and I’d totally agree that things like this will hurt MS & the 360 in the long run.
Now we just need one of the xbots to respond.
What?

Its free after a month. I’m outraged….
November 3rd, 2011
I can see your white knuckles from here CON.

Sucks for people that spent $30 on the season pass. I wonder if all their DLC will be free to the patient.

What does it matter. I’m a Gears fan and I’m going to want even the playable characters. So weather I wait a month or not it’s still going to cost me. It would be great if everything was included because I’ll be down for a month or so anyways because I just Sold my house and bought another one so I have no time for games.
November 3rd, 2011
You owned a home?
Thought you lived up your arse CAD…
And you have no time for games because the 360 has none at the moment.
Shoulda bought a PS3 too.
*snaps fingers* dagnabit.
November 3rd, 2011
Sorry Birdman. I don’t ever plan to own a PS3. Owning the 360 is like have 2 system in one and it does the job and more. The 360 has plenty great games. Your beliefe that it has no games is the biggest PS3 Fanboy lie I’ve ever heard.
November 3rd, 2011
It has games. Just nothing worth playing.
November 3rd, 2011
Apparently, the Xbox360 library of games is so bad that shovelware games had to be included to come up with 5 exclusive Xbox360 games for the year.
November 3rd, 2011
Oh it was a joke CAD jeez.
I’m a 360 owner too. It’s just there is a shortage of good games, and you know that’s the truth.
November 3rd, 2011
“and you know that’s the truth.”
I honestly think he doesn’t. He’s in CAD-Land.

If you have not embraced Kinect them maybe I can see where your coming form. I on the other hand I love the Kinect so for me I fell the opposite for those who close their minds to awesome technology and new ways of playing games.
November 4th, 2011
Sorry that’s feel.

I just find it funny that Kinect, a hands free ‘motion’ devices biggest features is voice commands. A feature that MS doesn’t need Kinect at all for. Don’t all you xbots alway where your headsets anyway?

“If you have not embraced Kinect them maybe I can see where your coming form”
Most of the Kinect games MS showed at E3 are getting horrible reviews…what a waste of E3.

How is voice control the biggest feature. It’s only one of the many features it does. If that’s all it did them I could see your point but it does that and more. In fact why are you turned off by the fact it doesn’t use the headset. Isn’t haveing no headset a better feature. Why should I bother pickig up a head set just to talk to it. I think the coolnees factor bothers you because the PS3 doesn’t even have the cool things Kinect offers.
November 4th, 2011
The 360 doesn’t have cool things that Move offer…like fast, accurate and hardcore motion gaming.

Roca
Last couple of reviews I saw on games that featured Move said it had noticeable lag, that in certain situations made it a disadvantage, over the standard controller.
I think Killzone3 might have been one of the games.
While kinect has lag too (worse than the move) the games are written in such a way to deal with it, in fact I read something recently that some of the earlier games have had to be patched to take into account the reduction in lag between Kinect & the 360 over the last view firmware revisions.
Kinect is a great idea that will one day become an important part of the way we play games, even the hardcore games.
For now I see it as work in progress and the last year has seen improvements in what it can do and in the response times.
I will be getting Kinect for the kids this Christmas, because they love playing it when they are visiting buddies. Might get a keep fit game for the wife too…lol

“I think Killzone3 might have been one of the games.”
That’s funny, I’ve finished the game twice with Move, the 2nd time on elite and only died twice, both times due to me not paying attention. In other words, no lag.
As for other games I can’t say, haven’t used the move for anything else so it just gathers dust.
November 4th, 2011
Yeah. I’ve only heard positive stuff about Killzone 3 and Move.
November 4th, 2011
I’ve seen many reviewers saying playing Socom/KZ3/R3 with the move is actually better…the ONLY issue is forcing yourself getting used to the new control scheme.
Kinect by itself will never get anywhere. It needs a wand or it needs function with a joypad.
Kinect has failed to give the 360 the much needed boost in sales after its first couple of month (when MS invested half a billion in ads). Right now the 360 is trailer the PS3 in sales and Kinect has stayed around the 10M units for a while.
Not to mention that Kinect has only sold 2M more units than Move…even after the 500M investment MS spent on it vs Move’s 1M (iirc)

It’s the only useful feature. It certainly handcuffs you in every way when playing games. Unless inaccurate controls are your thing. Take bowling or golf for instance. It’s poor as Kinect can’t detect the subtleties needed for an halfway accurate portrayal of those games.
“In fact why are you turned off by the fact it doesn’t use the headset. Isn’t haveing no headset a better feature. Why should I bother pickig up a head set just to talk to it.”
A headset doesn’t cost $150 and most people have one already, especially on the 360. Voice commands are software based, so MS is essentially making you pay for something extra to control ME3 with Voice.
November 4th, 2011
“so MS is essentially making you pay for something extra to control ME3 with Voice”
Shit I didnt think of that. Why does the voice feature have to be Kasual only? Doesn’t make sense.
November 4th, 2011
Not that reviews are the rule of thumb but last time I checked Moves games never scored even close to Kinect games. This lie that it’s accurate is complete BS. The move is laggy and your lying to yourself thinking it’s accurate. Move in a little tech demo does well. Thow a game behind it and it’s lag central. Kinect has very very very little lag if any at all. It depends on the game. Play Gunstringer or Child of Eden and you will have a hard time identifying the lag because there is no lag. Yes Killzone has lag with the move. It’s a well know issue. Roca will lie and say it doesn’t. Even controllers have lag. Go test it out and see for yourself. You will be shocked that you never noticed it before. Saying kinect has lag is a thing of the past but I don’t expect a bunch of Sony Fanboys to know this.

“The move is laggy and your lying to yourself thinking it’s accurate”
Link?
I have links on the Kinects lag, want them?
November 4th, 2011
I’m really pissed right now that I’m to busy moving because I can’t wait to get my hands on Kinect Sports Season two, Dance Central 2 and Rise of Nightmares. I’m looking forward to trying out Football in KS2. I also can’t wait till next year when the EA Sprots titles will have Kinect. Spots games are awesome on Kinect.
November 4th, 2011
I don’t need a link telling lies when I already know Kinect works and is better then the Move.
November 4th, 2011
Oh you don’t want the link? They are all lies? Lmfao ok.
Kinect works better than Move?
Link?
I have links proving other wise. Want them?
November 4th, 2011
EA Sprots? Lol you gimp.

This is the fate of all loyal Xbots…

You hear Roca, the 360 is actually two consoles and has much more exclusives than the Ps3 and any article to say otherwise is lying lol.

Yes, but you should see the comments on YouTube!

Oh look, CAD didn’t reply.
Shock.
