Uncharted 3 and Modern Warfare 3 breaks sales records
Two heavy hitting titles released this month and the initial sales numbers are impressive. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 enjoyed the biggest launch day sales ever and Uncharted 3 is now the third fastest selling PS3 exclusive.
Sony sent out a short press release recently stating that the company sold 3.8 million copies of Uncharted 3, day one. IGN reached out to Sony to confirm if these are shipped or sold numbers. According to the site, this is apparently sold numbers, which is impressive either way.
Nick Caplin, SCEE head of communications, said "Uncharted 3 is a blockbuster and these incredible sales figures reflect that."
Consumers are clearly as eager to play the game as critics were to heap praise upon it, and the team at Naughty Dog deserve this fantastic reception at retail.
This makes Uncharted 3 the fastest selling title of the trilogy and the third fastest selling PS3 exclusive ever behind Gran Turismo 5 (which is now approaching 7 million units) and Metal Gear Sold 4.
Modern Warfare 3 sold approximately 6.5 million units during launch making it the biggest day-one release out of the series or entertainment in general. The game is estimated to have generated more than $400 million worldwide.

In my state 6.5% ($26,000,000) of that would be taken away in state tax. That would leave the Modern Warfare 3 developers with $374,000,000 million dollars in gross revenue…and then comes the dividends (double tax)…I’m so glad that I’m not a corporation.
As soon as I start my new job I’m getting Uncharted 3 for the holidays!

I have good news for you about Skyrim. It’s been reported that the Ps3 version has the best graphics for this game. Also, it is being reported that the Xbox360 version of this game has graphical glitches if you install the game on the Xbox360 hardrive. So there’s no need for you to feel bad about playing this game on Ps3.

Surely the size of the userbase should be taken into account when when claiming that records have been broken?
It should be size of the user base minus the number sold and then create a percentage.
No doubt call of duty will break all records next year but mainly due to the increase in console sales over the next year not the quality of the game.

Yeah I’ve been reading all night about the texture/ frame rate issues with Skyrim. For now PS3 seems like the best bet (excluding the PC). I’m currently downloading the pc version to test it out…shhhhh don’t tell anyone.

Although I’m a little annoyed that the 360 version gets exclusivity first. I know it’s for 30 days but I’m not buying Skyrim until I get the full package.

Skyrims brilliant twilight. I put over 200 hours into Oblivion and I just know I’ll put more into this one. Just gotta plat Uncharted and MW3 so the game has all my attention.
When I first started Skyrim I was disappointed in the graphics but once you go out into the world the graphics seem to step up a few notches. Fantastic game.

Skyrims graphics are awesome on PC. 1080p with 16 sample Antistropic Filtering.

I was thinking about buying a 3DS but besides Mario I don’t see anything else that will get to play a 3DS, besides the PS Vita is just around the corner and it’ll take most of gaming time on the go.

Been playing Skyrim ALOT and there is one major fault with the game:

why the hell haven’t you got a 3DS yet!? I thought you would have got it before me. Got mine a few months after release …one week before the major price drop(which pissed me off).
Zelda is the only game I’ve put any worth while time into, love this game so much. I’ll get Mario 3D very soon, looks amazing and the reviews are highly positive. The 3DS line up is starting to look promising.

I am one of those 3.8 million who got Uncharted 3 day one 11.1.11!
Team Naughty Dog is pound-for-pound the best development team this generation.
They have pushed the envelope and did what others thought would be impossible on the PS3.
Check out the what they did with sand and water special effects!
Next Games to support are:
1. Sonic Generations PS3 – they say SEGA has repented of its short comings.
2. ICO and Shadow of Colossus Collection – its Ueda and my app-etizer for The Last Guardian
3. Skyrim PS3 because the graphics are better on the PS3 because they are raw and uncompressed like in FF XIII.
Resident Evil The Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles to put my PS Move to good use.

I’m fairly sure the PC version looks best, then PS3, then 360 (with the difference in consoles a minimum compared to the gain with pc). That said, though I wasn’t impressed by the PS3 version’s graphics, the gameplay is still outstandingly addictive. It’s 0220 in the morning here and I have to report in for processing tomorrow around 0730… just 1 more hour!

PC version can use a whole different set of compression than the PS3 too. You can pretty much guarentee that the installation for Skyrim on PC is a lot larger than the 8.9Gbs that fit on a DVD.

Im reading that the PS3 version is only a 5.5Gb install, but its mandatory.
PC version is about 6Gbs
The Xbox version is only 3.8
This is what I don’t understand…
When you install a game on the 360 it copies all the game data, so why is the 360 version much smaller (By 2Gbs) than the other 2 versions?
Logically this sounds like Bethesda intentionally fucked with the 360 version, after all we know for a fact that there is easily 6Gbs of room on the 360 disc for all the game data.

Why bother? PCs have massive HDDs, why would you go to the effort of decompressing the files in real time.
I can see it for consoles but not PCs.

Your an idiot, pc development pushes forward for one reason only: cost….
This is the reason why SSD are taking so long to become standard….also, blu ray on the pc development environment, is not needed because of the fact that ALL pcs come equipped with hige hard drives where the developers can cram and zip up all their files onto a dvd dual layer disc….hence why bother to go to br when dvd gets the job done and at a lower cost….in casenyou havent noticed more and more games dont even require the use of the disc once its installed…i remember just 5 years ago, you still needed the disc to play the game….now, most blizzard gamesbdont require it, battlefiled never did and more and more games..
On consoles this is not possible due to very limited hd space so the best solution is to stream off the disc, of which br is needed and does a much better job than dvd can…..

I never said Bluray improved graphics you idiot. Bluray is just a differnt form of ‘storage’ and PC comes with huge HDD (not to mention that you can add cheap external HDD as well) so the need of Bluray for game data is not a necessity. simple as that.
We are talking about consoles here and like I mentioned before, even the Wii U will use 25GB BD-like disc format.
