Gametrailers teasing “PS3 Exclusive You Won’t Believe” – The Last Of Us
Gametrailers has been teasing a big surprise announcement that will be unveiled during the Spike VGA show December 10th. Apparently Sony has been cooking up a top secret PS3 exclusive that will blow your mind.
As we reported recently, Sony launched a mysterious site for a game called The Last of Us. The site seems to hint about a worldwide epidemic infection and possibly the end of days. The site currently has two teaser videos as well as two pictures that were added recently.
One picture shows a newspaper with the headline “The Last of US: The President addresses a panicked nation as millions more are feared dead or infected.” There is also two sections below with one talking about a quarantine around New Mexico failing and England being the latest to declare martial law.
The second screenshot shows a wooded area with lots of trees and sunlight. Interestingly, the two screenshots look fantastic and extremely detailed. The newspaper dispenser shows detailed cracks in the glass and rust around the metal. The screenshot of the trees also show leaves that are extremely detailed.
Geoff Keighley of Gametrailers recently posted a promo video on the site discussing this "PS3 exclusive that no one would believe." Keighley revealed that the game is a “massive announcement that no one is going to see coming." He adds, "I’m shocked every day that none of this has leaked out."
According to Keighley the game is supposedly “mind blowing” and the viewers will see a “trailer at the VGAs, this is not a teaser your going to meet the characters, your going to see the world, its all done in the game engine.”
He ends by revealing that the game is being created by an “amazing developer” and that people will be “shocked.” Keighley could be hyping up the announcement a bit in order to generate interest around this game and the Spike VGAs. Only time will tell how “shocking” this game will be December 10th.

I would say it’s probably ‘us’ rather than the ‘U.S’ because of this:

This suspects me to believe that it may well be a worldwide thing.

If you look at the newspaper though. The headline just reads ‘THE LAST OF US’ (no dots ie U.S.) with the sub-heading ‘The President addresses a panicked nation as millions more are feared dead or infected’. There is no colon to suggest that the President is specifically referring to the U.S.

I never said I’ve played Fable 3, and honestly after listening to what the creator of Fable 3 had to say about it I have no interest in playing it.
Molyneux claimed to be “pretty ashamed” of Fable III’s review performance, but agreeing with those reviewers that “the quality just wasn’t good enough”

5 year development cycle? That spells doom for all other studios unless they’re Sony 1st party. Say what you will about GT5, but I’d take that over Too Human, Kameo, Alan Wake, and Duke Nukem Forver from Sony’s point of view.

This past weekend, a teaser site for the game went live with a post-apocalypse feeling trailer and a viral video that referenced a fungus using bodies to grow. Yesterday, a new screenshot featured a newspaper talking about the end of humanity and quarantine zones.
Well, today, the folks over at iWaggle have posted a video from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. During the bar fight at the beginning of the game, players can walk over to the dartboard and spot a newspaper on the bar. The headline of the paper reads “Scientists are still struggling to understand deadly fungus.”
Very interesting — is The Last of Us fungus the same as the Uncharted fungus? Could Uncharted and The Last of Us happen in the same universe? Could developer Naughty Dog be behind this new exclusive? Is Naughty Dog just friends with whomever is making The Last of Us? Is this all just a joke? Come back to IGN this Saturday to find out. “
