Twisted Metal to include free copy of Twisted Metal: Black
Publishers including full sized games for free for the PS3 version of the title have been a popular trend this year. It looks like this will continue into next year with Sony spearheading this practice along with David Jaffe’s independent studio, Eat Sleep Play.
The studio has been working diligently on the next major iteration of Twisted Metal for the PS3 and the game is set to release February 14, 2012. Over at the PlayStation Blog, Jaffe left a Merry XMAS message for fans of the series by revealing that the first production copies or limited edition versions will come with a code to download Twisted Metal: Black for free.
We have seen this practice on the PS3 with EA offering a free code for Battlefield 1943 (eventually) with every Battlefield 3 purchase, Ubisoft offering a free copy of Assassin’s Creed with Revelations and THQ offering a free copy of Saints Row 2 with every purchase of The Third.
From what we have seen of the game it definitely looks like it will live up to Jaffe’s promise of delivering “balls to the wall” fun.
If you have questions for Jaffe, you may want to stop by the PlayStation Blog as it looks like he is answering just about everyone’s question in the comments section over there.

@Mike
Have you seen this video from anonymous to sony?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjOPXpd9PSU
December 29th, 2011
Con the troll. I agree that sopa has to be stoped but anon is going about it the wrong way. Wtf can they do to Justin b?
December 29th, 2011
It’s funny that Annon makes itself out to be a modern day Robin Hood, but all they do is release innocent people’s credit card info online.
Yeah, that’s sticking it to the big corporations *rolls eyes* all they do is screw over the average person.
December 29th, 2011
You mad CON?
December 29th, 2011
Just watched that video “threat” and all I can say is:
LMFAOPMFSLOMFGHAHAHAHA
What a sad, pathetic bunch of geeks pmsl!
“You will be exterminated”
LOL! Who do they think they are, Daleks!? Hahaha
Gotta laugh at their over the top dramatic video as well, the music at the start had me laughing lol.
I bet there’s some right sad geeks out there going “YES! Let’s bring the war to Sony! Oh man Sony are gonna get their ass kicked!” I wonder who some of those people are who get excited by it? *Coughs* CON *Coughs*
I reckon Anonymous are a bunch of butt hurt 360 fangirls who are jealous they purchased a console that hasn’t been releasing many note worthy exclusives.
December 29th, 2011
“Sony, you will be extinguished”
LOL!!!
December 29th, 2011
I couldn’t care less…last time they messed with Sony I got:
-4 free games
-2 months of PSN+
-30-days of Music Unlimited
-1-year of identity theft protection
what did they get?
-Anonymous’ got raided and arrested by the police
-HotGeo was vanished and had to take it (in the ass) from Sony in court
-Many Anonymous got cought and were charged with terrorism (no wonder CON is supporting it)
December 29th, 2011
I don’t agree with Anonymous’ techniques, but I do think SOPA is a bad idea.
“In a nutshell, here’s what the law would do:
-Assign liability to site owners for everything users post, without consideration for whether or not the user posted without permission. Site owners could face jail time or heavy fines, and DNS blacklisting.
-It would require web services like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter to monitor and aggressively filter everything all users upload.
-It would deny site owners due process of law, by initiating a DNS blacklisting based solely on a good faith assertion by an individual copyright or intellectual property owner.
-It would give the U.S. government the power to selectively censor the web using techniques similar to those used in China, Malaysia and Iran. The Great Firewall of China is an example of this type of embedded, infrastructural internet censorship.
…Your action on this matters.” (Tom’s Hardware)

I am sick of these hackers. The only thing these hackers do is hurt innocent people caught in the crossfire.
December 29th, 2011
FYI, the link I provided took less than 10 seconds to send an automated letter to my representative and 2 senators.
I’m betting Jack Thompson supports SOPA as well. Even though Microsoft and Apple aren’t on the list of direct supporters, they are indirectly supporting it through their BSA (Business Software Alliance).
http://microsoft-news.com/microsoft-indirectly-supports-%E2%80%9Cstop-online-piracy-act%E2%80%9D/
The actual list of supporters is fairly large. I would be more tempted to support Anonymous if they went after organizations like the ABA and/or Mastercard first. As it is, I think it is a good thing that they are helping to spread the news about SOPA, though I dislike them focusing on Sony.

@carl Even though it says postal code it didn’t except mine.
December 29th, 2011
Carl they actually did attack Mastercard and Visa last year.
Jan 3rd what they are calling operation blackout towards the US government. Even if they are bullshitting they have served their purpose by making people aware of SOPA.

December 29th, 2011
Are you for OPAS Con? I am against it but anon will get nowhere attacking Sony. That is just stupid. And what are they going to do to Justin B? Not buy his music? I’m already doing that. Lol
December 29th, 2011
SOPA I mean.
December 29th, 2011
lol the video has 40 views…. probaly 10 are from Blorge.
Here’s the list…
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-h3261/money
It lists Sony Picures, and Sony Music… not even Sony Computer Entertainment.
As far as I can tell, Nintendo is the only direct mention of a conosle maker.
December 29th, 2011
There are many other civil ways to fight against SOPA (Carl provided one of them) which isn’t even in effect yet…but CON’s terrorist mentality is to deal with everything in a uncivil, salvage, & primitive manner.
December 29th, 2011
BJ – “lol the video has 40 views…. probaly 10 are from Blorge”
CON – “Even if they are bullshitting they have served their purpose by making people aware of SOPA”
@CON
yeah, all 40 of you LMAO
December 29th, 2011
Ncaisse it doesn’t really effect me as I’m not american but I’m very surprised they are pushing for it. American politics frightens me though with all the religious fanatics who seem to hold so much power.
Roca
Are you against what Anonymous did in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya this year?
December 29th, 2011
Where are you getting 40 from???
December 29th, 2011
“it doesn’t really effect me as I’m not american but I’m very surprised they are pushing for it. American politics frightens me though with all the religious fanatics who seem to hold so much power”
@CON
I can tell you know very little about America. This is just a bill and there are literally hundreds of bills that never get approved every year. This isn’t even in effect, and probably never will — just like the California video game law, this is a move against innovation, freedom and free speech.
December 29th, 2011
Since there are a multitude of companies involved, why exactly is it that Sony is getting most of the hate again? I don’t get this part. Can someone elaborate on this for me?
December 29th, 2011
Twilight
Sony came out in very strong support. Luckily MS don’t support it due to a conflict of interests.
Roca
I know more than you think.
December 29th, 2011
Twilight, because Sony has the most and best rated exclusives this generation with free online play and the most selling console every year (except 08), it’s obvious Anonymous are a bunch of 360 fantards.
December 29th, 2011
“lol the video has 40 views…. probaly 10 are from Blorge.”
Last time I checked it had 22,886 views… just a wee bit more than the amount of members here on Blorge. I still don’t agree with them singling out Sony, but I can get behind them spreading the word about SOPA and how we should make every effort to stop it.
Let’s not make this a console war thing people. As I stated before, M$ is also supporting this, and I think we all can agree it is a bad thing overall, so please, do your part (if you live in the U.S.) to stop it if you haven’t already:
https://action.eff.org/o/9042/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=8173
December 30th, 2011
I see where I got 45 from… the number of videos.
Completely agree with you Carl b. Sony, Nintendo, and M$ are supporting this.
December 30th, 2011

December 30th, 2011
“I reckon many companies simply saw the word ‘piracy’ and attached their name to the bill without thinking.”
I don’t think M$, most of the companies, or the BSA for that matter would just officially, and publicly, jump into something like this unless they knew what it was about, even indirectly. They are simply too big, have too much money, and too many lawyers for that to happen.
No. I would lean towards they thought they could get it passed quietly, without a lot of opposition from high up the food chain, and make even more money from what has been up to this point available for free… by making small, slow, incremental changes.
They’ll still follow that philosophy wherever they can, but at least this path appears to be well on it’s way to being blocked, for now. M$ sees it happening, so there’s no sense for them to back something that isn’t going to pan out anyway. It’s just not profitable for them in the long run, and they’re into profits, not politics.
December 30th, 2011
@CON
What if Sony, Nintendo, EA and many other companies are supporting SOPA – should I change my view towards those companies (who are just trying to protect their intellectual properties) and stop supporting them?
That’s very childish attitude. I just found out that my local pharmancy (CVS) is supporting SOPA… guess what? I will still shop there.
and I will still watch movies & TV Shows from Sony Pictures, Viacom (Paramount Pictures) , Universal, Disney, Time Warner (HBO) & CBS…and all these companies support SOPA.
Even if Microsoft doesn’t agree w/SOPA (and they are also not against it), they are the only console manufacturer (since you’re turning this into a console war) harming the internet the most by blocking access to the internet, and internet services such as facebook twitter, unless you pay for XBL
December 30th, 2011
Roca
Fuck off with your fanboy shit for ONCE!
December 30th, 2011
“M$ sees it happening, so there’s no sense for them to back something that isn’t going to pan out anyway. ”
LMFAO there is the statement of the year! LOL
December 30th, 2011
@CON
-look at your fist post – totally unrelated and pure fanboy crap.
-Then you said you don’t care about SOPA – “it doesn’t really effect me as I’m not american”
-Then you tried to make it a Sony vs Microsoft thing (while defending MS) – “Sony came out in very strong support. Luckily MS don’t support it due to a conflict of interests”
-then you went out of your way to post another link to defend MS one more time…clearly this “doesn’t” affect you *roll eyes*
All this fanboy crap coming from you, the guy who defends the 360′s business model & its closed ecosystem…which is exactly what SOPA wants to do to the internet (limit its potential).
December 30th, 2011
How is an attack on PSN not related to Mike?
“Then you said you don’t care about SOPA”
No I didn’t.
“Then you tried to make it a Sony vs Microsoft thing (while defending MS)” Where did I support MS?????
“then you went out of your way to post another link to defend MS one more time…” I had previously stated to Twilight that luckily MS didn’t support it when she asked why Sony was getting most of the hate. JOJO and Carlb then posted that MS did support so I provided a link.
Stop being such a fucking child. I wouldn’t agree with MS if they supported SOPA or if they did in the future. Feel free to quote me on that.
December 30th, 2011
Okay, I see Con and Oldie.
It seems Sony is taking fire for being a major player for supporting this bill but I think is a bit more then Sony just supporting this bill. No other company has been called out on issues as consistently as Sony has. For example, Sony got rimmed over the coals with their new user agreement. Microsoft rolls out a new dashboard with a similar agreement and nothing is really said about this. It seems that there is some type of extra agenda to kick and take Sony down.
December 30th, 2011
Twilight you’re right, don’t forget that Sony is a major player in the music industry also.
December 30th, 2011
Con,
I have to laugh at myself. I know Sony is involved in the music business but for some reason I always forget about their involvement with the music industry as well. When I think of Sony, I always think about their gaming and electronics industry mostly.
December 30th, 2011
Movies also.
Annon doesn’t give a crap about anything. They get their jollys screwing people over.
The only reason that Sony got singled out is because if they were to hack Sony again, it would be a major win for them. Then they’ll feel big, important, smart, etc… they don’t give a shit about SOPA.

“Nintendo, Electronic Arts and Sony Electronics — some of the largest video game companies in the world — have all pulled their support for an online bill that could encourage censorship online, according to an updated list of supporters of the bill.
Those three companies all supported the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) when it first entered Congress, according to a report from Joystiq in November.

Dans,
I guess you are going to be calling me filppy flop a lot. I really don’t care about this. I’ve taken a big dose of a certain medicine. The name of the medicine is called system non-fanaticism. It goes along way.
I got my Ps3 system fixed for free. I was going to sell the system but I decided against it. Even though extreme Ps3 fanaticism has nearly single handedly killed off my liking of the Ps3, I’ve decided to keep the Ps3 system to use as well. Afterall, Cad has even invested in both systems now. Why? It’s about the games and getting back to enjoying what both systems bring differently to the table. Even though I still think that Microsoft has it in spades, Microsoft has made Sony better and Sony has made Microsoft better. I don’t want either company to go anywhere.
December 30th, 2011
@dans303
I bet Anonymous still tries to attack Sony..SOPA was just a lame excuse
December 30th, 2011
I love it when big corporations (Sony, M$, Ninty, etc.) squirm and scatter when the daylight hits them.
December 30th, 2011
@twilight
I have no problem with what your opinion on the best console is. It’s just the fact your opinion goes to complete polar opposites every couple weeks: 360 rules, PS3 sucks; PS3 rules, 360 sucks. You’ve been like this since I joined here, your latest episode, however, is taking the biscuit.
“The name of the medicine is called system non-fanaticism”
I, as you undoubtedly know already, prefer the PS3. I have my opinions and I stick to them, unless something genuine changes my mind (gradually that is, over a period of time longer than every other week). Now, would you call me a fanatic?
December 30th, 2011
Dans,
I haven’t changed my mind on anything. Everyone just wants me to be a one-sided.
As far as you being a fanatic, I will say this before I sign off for the night. My statement was truthful regarding Sony. It’s always the Ps3 people who have something to say regardless of whatever I say.
December 31st, 2011
Thanks for the link dans, looks like Sony like to flip flop also
Big firms need to learn that they can’t censor the internet to feed their interests without a backlash. I guess roca does not support sopa anymore.
December 31st, 2011
Microsoft also change their opinion on SOPA…
and I never supported SOPA…
December 31st, 2011
I support Anon. They get shit done.
I need them to threaten Mark Zuckerberg, that fucking hack. The bloody ponce won’t address the serious problems on Facebook, whilst raking in the billions. Can’t stand that son of a bitch….
December 31st, 2011
Roca
Flip flop lol
December 31st, 2011
@CON
you don’t make sense.
December 31st, 2011
flip
January 2nd, 2012
Just to throw this out there..surprisingly this is from IGN:
http://games.ign.com/articles/121/1215432p3.html
Read that last statement..for the last 4 years, PS3 has won this contest..360 has only won it once…and why/ PS3 Exclusives rate higher, PS3 has more of them….Yet another “year of the PS3″, and 2012 looks no different…with Twisted Metal right around the corner….Sony knows how to start off with a bang!
January 5th, 2012
Back to the original topic……………
Twisted Metal Black is likely my favorite TM game. Even with that said, this news does absolutely nothing for me.
If the inclusion of TM Black meant it would be a HD scaled re-release like MOH Frontline, or Dead Space Extraction with trophy support and maybe even online play that would be pretty awesome.
Since it’s not, there’s really no reason to go back to the game as I own it already on the PS2.
