Assassin’s Creed III set during the American Revolution
Ubisoft has finally confirmed exactly where the next major installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise will take place. Initial rumors around the game revealed that Assassin’s Creed III will take place during the American Revolution.
This rumor was pretty much confirmed two days ago when an eager Best Buy employee sent a picture of the promotional material ahead of its official announcement. The image showed an assassin with a tomahawk attacking a British soldier, with the American flag waving in the background.
Today Ubisoft officially confirmed the location of the game with GameInformer teasing its next issue with an Assassin’s Creed III cover.
Reaction to the next setting for the game have been mixed, with some excited while others concerned about the future of the franchise. Platforming has always been a core element of the franchise, and given that the game will be taking place in colonial America, there will be a lack of tall buildings.
If the game took place in Ancient China, or even in London during the same period as the American Revolution, the terrain would make sense for an Assassin’s Creed game.
It could be that Ubisoft is taking the series in an entirely new direction, ditching platforming altogether. The publisher revealed that more details will be revealed March 5th at 5pm. The game is set for release October 30th later this year.

I kind of look at it like Brotherhood and Revelations were expansion packs, while this one is the true sequel to ACII. That’s why I’m psyched for it.

Im gonna make a prediction for AC3.
The British are Templars and George Washington and the other founding fathers are really members of the Assassins Guild.

The Templars has ties with a lot of the American Presidents, so I’d be more inclined to think that Washington was a member of the Templars.
Also, I’m sure I read somewhere that there was some clue in one of the previous games that Washington actually gets his hands on a Piece of Eden after the Declaration of Independence was signed.

I need to get back to AC 2 and brotherhood and complete them. so I don’t fall too far behind.
I like the storyline of this game, It would make a great movie.

Would be a great game to see on next gen system, it could look beautiful, and is just the right kind of game to show off what next gen tech can do.

I think everyone feels that way about AC1. But the step up from 1 to 2 is similar, if not bigger, to the jump between Uncharted 1 and 2. In other words – massive. Controls, variety, gameplay and story were all greatly improved.

Can’t agree more. I forced myself through a lot of AC1, but just got to frustrated with it. AC 1 wasn’t very good. It was really overrated.
AC2 fixed all of the issues, and expanded on the good ideas from 1. Plus it added some new things. The story for 2 was really good too.

I have to disagree. It had issues, but handling makes it appear as if they were gameplay issues which I didn’t have. I felt the game handled gameplay (if that’s even what you meant) fine.
My problem with AC1, was the repetitive non important side missions. The pacing was also way off.

From what I can find The Knights Templar formed a new Brotherhood when they brought the treasure to the New World, called the Free Masons.
Then, at the time of the Revolutionary War, the Free Masons hid the treasure again. At the time, Masons included such famous people as Paul Revere, George Washington, and Benjamin Franklin.
Now, some of Ben Gates’(Nic Cage) family were called Benjamin Franklin Gates, Thomas Jefferson Gates, and John Adams Gates. Leading us to believe that he(Ben Gates) is a Templar too.
So the short answer – Yes.

I think it was mentioned before in AC that many times Assassins had infiltrated the Templars. Wouldn’t surprise me if that would be the case in AC3 with the founding fathers.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.
BTW one of the reasons why I think it woudl make sense story wise for the founding fathers to be assassins would be the way a lot of the war was fought. Washington was known for his guerrila hit and run tactics. Alot of the revolutionary war was fought by the americans in a way similar to how the assassins guild would fight.

those screenshots are fucking hot. As much as I love the AC series TBH I was beginning to get a little burnt out on it. I didn’t like the setting in Brotherhood as much as I liked the setting in 2.
Probably the one huge thing I loved about Brotherhood was managing my own group of bad ass assassins. Between leveling them up by sending them on missions or just calling on them to take random targets out was great.

Just finished the last level (well not the “secret” last level) and it was crazy jumping off all this stuff that was flying around… took me the better part of an hour to master… most colorful game I’ve come across in a long time, highly recommend it (unless you hate platformers).

I have to say I’m really liking Halo Reach. I’m on mission nightfall.
After more than an hour of playing my finger are cramped. That never happens with my ps3 controler. I think you xbots are accusing the ps3 of having the faults of the 360. I play through GOW 3 non stop and didn’t have that problem.
How far into the game is the nightfall mission?

I beat a few of the treasure chest levels and decided to give it a rest and come back to it later, because there is still the time trials, electoon challenges, and all of the hidden cages to get for medallions. That will take some time. And patience.
Yes, you are on the last set of main game levels, then get all the teeth and you can play the “secret” level. I was hoping the different characters would provide some kind of real performance difference (faster, jump higher, longer range attack), but no luck as far as I could tell.

I’ve been told by a few that reach is the best of the Halo games, I did like the demo, but because I’ve never really got into any of the other halo games, I gave it a miss.

Well, tomorrow Mass Effect 3, Mlb The Show, and Game Of Thrones comes out on blu day. I have to buy this series. I haven’t seen this series yet but everyone keeps telling me how good this show is.
As far as Mass Effect 3 goes, I have a pre-order on both systems. I just have to decide what system to get this game for.

Oh and I finally got my hands on the Vita.
Really impressed with the large bring screen, intuitive OS, and touch screen. The device had a really nice feel to it also. It was light weight, but still felt really solid and well built.
The analog sticks are really cool. I was expecting the nub from the PSP, but they felt like the really thing, only shrunk down.
Only played a few seconds of Uncharted, but it seemed really good.

The end of Brotherhood ended with a lot of stuff about Subject 16 iirc. I can’t speak for Revelations though because I haven’t played it. Though from what I’ve read (accidentally) there is a major twist at the end of that one too.

Do I understand you correctly, you think you should never have to unlock things in games, everything should be there to do at the beginning? Where is the fun in that? If you are talking about paying to unlock things then I can understand that, but not from a gameplay perspective. That is a big part of the fun, working a unlocking neat features for your time and effort. If it’s all there from the start then that is boring!

I’m good at games and I enjoy challenging games Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Twisted Metal, WaW, etc(mostly play all my games on hard).
but locked content BS piss me off. Why do I need to beat the game on hard in or unlock the “hardest” difficulty?
I like locked content that you can unlock during a single playthrough. I hate content that are unlocked after you beat the game (GOW3 skins comes to mind)
