Bioware responds to controversial Mass Effect 3 endingThe hottest trending game news on the Web currently is around the controversial ending for Mass Effect 3. While some felt satisfied with the ending to the trilogy, others were outraged at how Bioware decided to finish up the story.

Mass Effect 3 is a success with over 3.5 million copies shipped worldwide since its launch last week. Since then various groups have popped up petitioning Bioware to change the ending to the game. Apparently, some gamers are not satisfied with the ending in Mass Effect 3 and now have petitioned to have it changed.

As reported by Edge, the campaign, Retake Mass Effect 3 has 25k likes on Facebook, 3k Twitter followers and over 40k votes to change the ending on the Bioware forums.

The folks that started the ChipIn campaign allowed supporters to donate money to Child’s Play, which raised $3.5 million last  year to help sick children. Apparently, the campaign has received over $30k in donations voicing their concerns over the ending for Mass Effect 3.

In an interview with Digital Trends, Casey Hudson, the man behind the Mass Effect franchise was unapologetic about the ending to the game. When asked what his thoughts are around the reaction to the ending, he stated:

I didn’t want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating what the endings mean and what’s going to happen next, and what situation are the characters left in. That to me is part of what’s exciting about this story. There has always been a little bit of mystery there and a little bit of interpretation, and it’s a story that people can talk about after the fact.

However, one has to wonder if getting Bioware to change the ending is the right thing to do. With so many people adamant about keeping the story cannon, changing the ending would pollute the creative vision of how the story is suppose to conclude.

Share your thoughts below and please avoid spoiling the ending for those who have yet to finish the game.
