Naughty Dog drops new The Last of Us trailer
The folks over at Naughty Dog dropped a new trailer for the highly anticipated title The Last of Us. There has been a media blackout since its initial reveal at the Spike VGAs last year, until today.
The Last of Us is Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic zombie game that deals with the aftermath of a deadly fungus outbreak. The fungus apparently grows in the brain inside out until the infected end up with a broccoli for a head.
The developers have promised to deliver a somber and emotional story that centers on a bond between Joel and a young girl named Ellie as they try to survive in a world turned upside down.

The first trailer shown at the Spike VGAs revealed the zombie-like infected creatures. The latest trailer unveiled by IGN, shows off a truck ambush and deals more with the surviving humans.
As you can see in the trailer, the graphics are absolutely gorgeous as its all in-engine and looks to be the best looking game on the consoles. You will notice that only one of the attackers have a gun while the others resort to throwing bricks and sticks at the car. One thing ND has made clear is that this is a survival game where ammo is scarce.
The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind. Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.
The story starts out in Pittsburg and expands to other locations as Joel and Ellie make it out of the rundown city. You can clearly see land markers in the trailer showing off the location of the game.
The developers were inspired by other zombie stories such as I am Legend and The Walking Dead graphic novels.

Looks like another PS3 exclusive set to take the best graphics of the year award.

So far I’m reminded more of the road with this trailer. I’m ready for gameplay video. Hopefully at E3.

I haven’t watch the movie but many people also compared R3 to The Road.
The Last of Us trailer looks amazing.

It looks like Naughty Dog has struck gold again. The trailer for this game looks great. The graphics are superb.

Here’s hoping they aren’t making a financial mistake trying to make this game a survival horror title when the majority nowadays wants shooters instead.

It’s pretty obvious this game is not a shooter.

Another great example of Sony taking care of its gamer focused fanbase…

Cool. Hopefully it’s seen in the US soon too, and not only a part of PSN+.

This game looks cool.
But I’m not a survival horror player.
How did the other game where the kid went out the window in the trailer turn out? Island or something? Anyone play it or is it out yet?

The next game I buy is Diablo 3 for my MBP. I also have a gaming rig but my MBP played it perfectly on the highest settings.

“How did the other game where the kid went out the window in the trailer turn out? Island or something? Anyone play it or is it out yet?”
Yeah, Dead Island? It didn’t live up to its trailer (surprise) and the game had a lot of bugs but apart from that I loved the game. It’s a very fun open world game that’s exactly like Fallout, only it has drop in, drop out 4 player co op that works brilliantly and less bugs than any Bethesda game lol. The cut scenes were pretty poor but there weren’t many of them.
I wouldn’t call Dead Island a survival horror. More like a open world RPG with zombies lol.

Yeah. Not my type of game. Zombies don’t need levels and HP IMO

Didn’t you like it? I thought it was great! Had some great co op players who were level 50 giving me some of their amazing weapons they made. The weapon making system is another thing worth praising. The game had some great environments as well like the prison, shanty towns and beaches. Thought the graphics were great for a open world game as well.

“Didn’t you like it?”
No but to be fair, I played it as much a I played Borderlands, which was like a day or two.
That was another game I couldn’t stand, and makes me lose faith in referrals from people online.

Weren’t a big Borderland fan myself. Traded it in which is something I rarely do.

The trailer looks beautiful!
Hopefully, there will be a reveal about Agent at the E3. Wow, that game is still in development for six years like GT5.
