Disney shuts down Epic Mickey studio, leaked video of God of War-like Ubisoft game
There major changes happening behind the scenes at Disney in its gaming division. The company just announced that Junction Point, the studio founded by Warren Spector and creator of Epic Mickey will be shut down.
According to Disney the company is realigning resources against “key priorities” and will be shutting down Junction Point as part of this effort. Disney issued a statement explaining the need to change in order to adapt to “fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace.” Of course Disney is talking about its new Disney Infinity project.
Disney Infinity is basically Skylanders with Disney properties, where you can scan in plastic toys into the game and level your characters.
It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities.
We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.
Reading between the lines, it seems like Disney will be laying off most of the folks at the studio including Warren Spector, creative genius behind Deus Ex.
Wii exclusive, Epic Mickey sold around 1.3 million units in the US alone followed by Epic Mickey 2 which was released on all console platforms, which only sold 529k units according to NPD (via Joystiq).
In other news, a new rough cut footage depicting a new game Ubisoft is secretly working on possibly for next gen systems was uncovered. Remember those leaked screenshots of a game with the title “Judgment is Coming” last August that was speculated to be the next Prince of Persia game?
A demo video was recently found on composer, Mark Killian’s blog. Killian overlaid the video depicting motion capture actors in various scenes with a soundtrack he apparently created for the game.
It certainly has a God of War vibe with Egypt being the setting. The game is shown to be named Osiris, which is a name of an Egyptian god.

The man in the left-middle of the foreground in the screenshot at 0.38 looks A LOT like the prince.

The music sounds very familiar.
Sounds like a remix of Adiago in D Minor.
Here’s an example: http://youtu.be/SMVik3EFVn4
It’s a good song.
Seems to me like Ubisoft is trying to copy.
GoW has Kratos, who is more like a villain.
Osiris seems like a ripoff, only featuring a Hero.

Interesting read.
When someone disagrees with someone it’s not trolling. Trolling has to have intent to cause an argument/grief IMO.
Being a fanboy and being a troll are two different things. I view being a fanboy like cheering for your favorite sports team.
