Even though Assassin’s Creed III released just a few months back, Ubisoft has no qualms about unveiling its next major iteration in the franchise. While there is a countdown page for the official unveiling of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the actual reveal trailer has been leaked already.
Leaked packshots, screenshots and trailers seem to be a regular occurrence with Ubisoft. Promo material for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag last month showing off the protagonist in the game. Later leaked details confirm that the main character will be sailor, privateer and Assassin, Edward Kenway.
If that last name seems familiar to you, its because Edward is Haytham Kenway’s father and Connor’s grandfather from AC III. The story takes place prior to AC III during a time when pirates and privateers ruled the waves. While naval combat as a part of AC III, it will be an integral part of the gameplay in Black Flag.
Ubisoft has launched an official page for Black Flag with a countdown to its official unveiling March 4th. Leaked information from the site indicated that the game would be coming to next gen consoles specially naming the PlayStation 4 and Wii U. The release date listed on the leaked info has everyone in a frenzy as the game is set to launch October 29. Could this mean that the PS4 will launch around that timeframe?
Leaked packshot of the game reveal that Sony has once again secured hours’ worth of exclusive content for the upcoming game.
While the AC series is traditionally developed by Ubisoft Montreal, CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed that the game has been under development by another team.
There is some speculation that the leaked trailer (below) was created in-engine on the PS4. If true, then the leap in graphics is impressive from ACIII to AC IV.
One thing that’s a head scratcher is Ubisoft’s decision to slap a ‘IV’ onto Black Flag, considering that it’s a prequel to AC III. It could be an indication that the real world story outside the Animus is a continuation despite the historical jump back in the timeline.
