Disney classic remake kick: DuckTales and Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion coming to PS3 and Xbox 360
With the closure of LucasArts, it appears that the license floodgates have been opened by Disney with two publishers announcing remakes of classic video games. Capcom announced that it is working on a full remake of DuckTales which originally came out on the NES.
I have fond memories of sinking countless hours into DuckTales, as well as Scrooge McDuck’s funny jumping mechanic on the NES. Working with Capcom, WayForward Technologies will be developing a complete remake (not a remaster) of the classic title. The new version of the game has been hand drawn to give it that authentic feel and will release over PSN, Wii U and Xbox Live.
Sega is also working on a classic Disney title with a remake of Castle of Illusions. The remake will be handled by Sega Studios Australia, and will be developed in HD 3D glory. Castle of Illusions will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC through Steam.
