Nintendo Wii makes “real” gamers nauseated

August 21, 2008

Nintendo Wii makes “real” gamers nauseated Some say it is possible to own a PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.  But, is it possible to own all three and enjoy all three.  This is a matter of opinion and I would have to say that it’s not.

Half Life aliens invade Spore

June 24, 2008

spore1 There have been phallic creatures created in Spore and I’m fairly sure that’s not what EA had in mind when it released the Creature Creator.  Here is something a little more constructive.  Someone has gone and created aliens from the Half Life series in the Creature Creator.

EA’s Spore Creature Creator is not that fun

June 22, 2008

EA's Spore Creature Creator is not fun I spent some time with EA’s Spore Creature Creator over the weekend and I have discovered it’s not that fun.  The idea behind it is that you can create your creature and then import it into Spore when it is released in September.  Besides creating your creature, there isn’t much to do in the creator.

Nintendo Wii may get new first person shooter, The Conduit

May 18, 2008

Nintendo Wii may get new first shooter, The Conduit By now most of you should now how I feel about the Nintendo Wii but that won’t stop me from covering something that could be very good for the console.  Up until now, Nintendo has been pushing its warmed over Mario-based games and Wii sports; if that’s your thing, great but it’s not mine and never will be, ever.  A game called The Conduit may change all that, if it gets published.

GTA IV allows Jack Thompson to renew assault on video games

April 29, 2008

GTA IV allows Jack Thompson to renew assault on video games GTAI IV is out and Jack Thompson is already having his say.  He is calling for indictments against Take Two software and its Chairman Strauss Zelnick along with two other senior officials with the company.  If that wasn’t enough he wants to take down Sony and Microsoft for "making this pornographic game available to minors" and Best Buy, Walmart, Gamestop and other retailers should be held accountable for selling the game openly to anyone under the age of 18.

April 29, 2008

Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters dev team prefers PS3You may have heard that a little franchise known as Ghostbusters is being remade into what should be a fantastic third person perpestive game for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii but which one will get that special touch?  If you’re to believe the dev team, it will be the PS3 version.

GTA IV for PS3 and Xbox 360 to sell 9 million copies at launch

April 28, 2008

GTA IV for PS3 and Xbox 360 to sell 9 million copies at launchUnlike the launch of Halo 3 which was surrounded by trailer after trailer and game footage and to some extent "spoilers" there is no such thing going on for GTA IV.  There are trailers for GTA IV but only to the extent that Rockstar wants us to see and no more.  Microsoft positioned Halo 3 to sell Xbox 360s but Rockstar is only concerned with selling the game, plain and simple.

New York’s Times Square gets exclusive high def video game show

April 24, 2008

New York's Times Square gets exclusive high def video game show An exclusive video game show for New York’s Time Square is not exactly the first thing I thought I would be writing about when I got up this morning.  But, it seems that Clear Channel broadcasting thinks it is a great idea.  The GCHD video series, as its being called will air only on a high-def video display in Times Square and is targeted at the average gamer, but that may not mean what you think it means.

As the PS3 and Xbox 360 continue growth, Wii will die in gamers’ eyes

April 21, 2008

As the PS3 and Xbox 360 continue growth, Wii will die in gamers' eyesA reader comment got me to thinking about the varying types of gamers; one is content to sit down and play games for hours on end, the other is content to play a game for a few minutes, put it down and go do something else.  No one ever thought to serve both markets and only one company is serving one almost exclusively, Nintendo.
