The Need for Speed franchise has been slowly sinking, but with the release of the latest iteration things may be finally turning around. Need for Speed: Shift crosses into new territory for the franchise with the game moving away from the street arcade racer and into the race sim genre.

Halo 3: ODST takes a radical departure from the traditional Halo series by shifting the story completely away from the lime light. If you changed few things in the story, you might mistake ODST for another game outside the Halo franchise. The game Shadow Complex was recently released to much acclaim on Xbox Live. The game received some attention from the media for both good and bad reasons. The controversy around the game stems from the association of the game with Orson Scott Card who is outspokenly anti-gay. However, gamers should not judge the game based on the author of the book but its gameplay.

The G.I Joe cartoon series was extremely popular back in the 80s, with so many different memorable characters. The new G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra game lets you play as 16 different characters including Cobra members. Despite the assortment of colorful characters that can be controlled, the game suffers from the age old movie-to-game trappings.

Prototype is the action hack-n-slash title developed by Radical Entertainment, which is the same studio that created The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction on the Gamecube. Prototype actually uses an upgraded version of the same engine from the Hulk game. Radical Entertainment takes on a new IP with Prototype by crafting a dark anti-hero in search of his past.

Online multiplayer games offer a ton of replayability for many gamers out there. Some gamers literally spend over a hundred hours playing against other live players across the globe. Battlefield 1942 is a prime example of such a game. However, with the release of Battlefield 1943, can this remake live up to its predecessor’s reputation?

inFAMOUS is the latest creation by Sucker Punch Productions, responsible for the famed Sly Cooper series back on the PS2. The studio has taken a radical departure from its traditional fare to create a brand new IP with inFAMOUS, which unfolds like a comic book story.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay made a splash on the original Xbox several years ago. The game was truly hailed for its inventiveness and originality in 2004. Starbreeze and Tigon Studios have come together once again to bring the latest iteration in The Chronicles of Riddick universe, with Assault on Dark Athena.

I am finally reviewing the game which has been taking up almost all of my spare time for the past month – Unreal Tournament 3. Having missed the game completely when it first came out (even though I was a fan of the original on both the PC and Dreamcast), I was finally persuaded to take the plunge by the promise of a much-needed update adding Trophies and splitscreen, and by the addition of the Titan Pack.

Lux-Pain is a glimmer of what the future of interactive storytelling could be. The game is more like an interactive novel than an actual action game. However, the twists and turns in the story may leave you dizzy but satisfied in a bizarre way.
