Microsoft created 343 Industries, a new internal studio. This studio will be handling future Natal projects and also take over the development efforts of Halo games. According to a new job posting it seems like Microsoft is ramping up to work on a new Halo game internally.

The PSPgo recently launched in Japan this month and the initial sales figures are in. It seems like the new PSPgo is giving the Playstation brand the boost needed to completely dominate the video game market it Japan.

It doesn’t seem to matter how successful the Wii is but analysts and industry watchers consider there to be something missing. Which is why these same people have been talking about the possibility of a Wii HD or Wii 2 coming out in the near future seemingly forever. However, there is no new Wii on the way, at least according to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.

Halo: Reach is Bungie’s last hurrah within the Halo universe before Microsoft takes over development of the franchise. There is very little information about the game as it was recently announced. However, some early screenshots have leaked online and it looks like the game is running on an improved engine.

When Infinity Ward announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would not have dedicated server support there was a huge backlash from the gaming community. It looks like one gamer is showing his appreciation to DICE for supporting dedicated servers with money.

We all knew it, but it’s taken a few months for Nintendo to admit it. The Wii has had a relatively bad year, at least by its own incredible standards set during the first two years of its life. And the CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, has admitted things haven’t gone as well as expected over the last few quarters.

For some odd reason Bayonetta has become the catalyst for the second console war. There are more articles about the impact Bayonetta is making in the console war than about the game itself. Interestingly enough, the controversy over the game has escalated enough for retailers to drop the price and put the title under a microscope.

A sore subject regarding the Xbox 360 is around the mod community or hackers running rampant with the console. It looks like Microsoft is doing another clean sweep of XBL users who have a hacked Xbox 360 by banning their accounts. In other news, early reports seem to indicate that the Xbox 360 version of Bayonetta is more popular than the PS3 version.

I hate seeing a genre of game milked until its teats shrivel up and die. And that’s exactly what is happening to the guitar/band-based rhythm-action games right now. DJ Hero is bad enough but at least that takes the genre in a new direction (away from rock music and into the world of Hip-Hop and R’n'B). The new Lego Rock Band just gives us more of the same.

This week in video gaming news there are new releases and new revelations about games out on the market. Forza 3 has a bit of a physics mishap and Ballad of Gay Tony shakes the GTA community. Also, there is an interesting video showing what Sony could have done with the Eyetoy if the company just had the foresight.
