We still don’t know when it’s going to be released outside of Japan but Gran Turismo 5 is definitely close. The coverage is starting to ramp up, with rumors of content, the level of damage featured, and a whole host of other stuff now clearly on the agenda. And in his latest chat about the game, Yamauchi has revealed that GT5 is “closer to reality” than any previous title in the series.

To call Modern Warfare 2 a success is to underplay its achievement. Not only has the latest title in the Call Of Duty series outsold all other video games in its first five days on sale, but it also racked up more cash than any movie ever has in that time frame as well. Activision is laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

I never thought EA would be superseded as the biggest money-grabbing SoBs in the video game industry. But it’s happening, with Activision showing a capitalist streak that pushes all other thoughts to one side. Its latest idea? To start charging people to play its biggest franchises online. And there’s none bigger than Call Of Duty right now.

The Medal Of Honor series was/is an important one as it set the tone and acted as the basis for the series which came after it. Most notably, of course, it led to the creation of Infinity Ward and the creation of the Call Of Duty series. Modern Warfare 2 has been ultra successful, so is now the right time for EA to create and release a new Medal Of Honor title?

Here we are slap-bang in the middle of a recession yet Activision decides not only to ramp up the RRP of Modern Warfare 2 but also to release two new rhythm-action games, both of which come with their own (expensive) peripherals. The company is already planning new Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, and Band Hero games in 2010 but it’s eyeing less SKUs. Which is some small relief I guess.

We’ve all moved on from GTA IV now, right? The latest installment of the long-running Grand Theft Auto series was a massive hit last year but the release of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 means GTA IV has now been superseded as the fastest-selling game of all time. But don’t worry, as GTA V is on the way, although it may be further away than some people have assumed.

NPD has released the U.S. sales figures for October. The recession continued to hit the video games sector, with sales down 19 percent over last year. September sales went against the grain, and it’s hoped that November will too thanks to the release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2. But October wasn’t a good month overall.

This summer saw a battle of motion-sensing controllers begin. At E3 2009 both Microsoft and Sony unveiled new systems designed to place gamers in the action and grab some of the casual gaming market from Nintendo. Sony is aiming to launch its effort in the spring of 2010, but details are still thin on the ground. However, details of Project Natal on the Xbox 360 have now leaked online.
