When Infinity Ward announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would not have dedicated server support there was a huge backlash from the gaming community. It looks like one gamer is showing his appreciation to DICE for supporting dedicated servers with money.

Just two years ago, many thought that we would be experiencing a MMO renaissance on home game consoles such as the PS3 and Xbox 360 this year. However, it’s two years later and there is no sight of a MMO on any of the home consoles. Could developers be getting cold feet about bringing MMOs to the consoles?

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was praised for bringing together the RPG with hack-n-slash genre in a massively open world environment. The game definitely made waves when it first hit the store shelves back in 2006 and 2007. However, according to Bethesda Software there may not be another iteration in the Elder Scrolls series.

Left 4 Dead has become a popular online game amongst gamers. However, Valve the studio behind the game received some flak recently for announcing the sequel less than a year from the launch of the first game. It seems Valve isn’t helping things much by further splintering the fanbase with DLC for the game.

Prototype is the action hack-n-slash title developed by Radical Entertainment, which is the same studio that created The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction on the Gamecube. Prototype actually uses an upgraded version of the same engine from the Hulk game. Radical Entertainment takes on a new IP with Prototype by crafting a dark anti-hero in search of his past.

Mass Effect 2 is the epic science fiction RPG set to come out in 2010 that continues the story of Shepard. The game looks like its shaping up quite nicely with tweaks to the combat and exploration. The developers at Bioware recently revealed a shocking twist to one of the potential endings in a new dev diary from Bioware.

One of the biggest surprises to come out of Microsoft’s press conference this year at E3 was the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2. This announcement caused a huge uproar with the hardcore Left 4 Dead fanbase as the first game was only released six months ago. Many feel that Valve is taking advantage of the loyal fanbase by cashing in on a sequel so quickly.

Mass Effect made a huge splash when it came out in late 2007. The story and atmosphere was engrossing with a dialog tree that was praised for its inventiveness. Bioware ups the ante with Mass Effect 2 by making the game even more like a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ book.
