The AirForce Research Laboratory is purchasing 300 Sony PS3s to conduct “unspecified research” on Cell processors; the heart of every PS3. Why exactly it needs 300 of them to do so is not exactly clear; my guess is on some kind of artificial intelligence research.

It’s no secret that the so-called “backwards compatibility” for PS2 games on the PS3 went from bad to horrible to not working at all. Current generation PS3s lack any PS2 hardware and rely on software emulation which doesn’t work very often, if at all. The company may soon offer downloadable PS2 games “made” for the PS3 over the PlayStation Network.

We reported on this just this morning. Tyrone Spellman aka Anwar Salahuddin was accused of killing his 17-month old daughter for breaking his Xbox 360 and has been found guilty by a Pennsylvania jury.

If you haven’t noticed, BLORGE has been out of commission for the past couple of days. Apparently Jonathan knocked his ginger ale on our master control board, and knocked out power to the entire Blorge network. And Luxembourg. Regardless, one of the big stories of the past week was Fox News appalling hatchet job on BioWare’s Mass Effect. Well, on Saturday author Cooper Lawrence recanted on her earlier statements about the game, saying that primetime television has more sexual innuendo than Mass Effect.

This has got to be a record. A certain Xbox 360 owner has had his Xbox 360 repaired five times by Microsoft and it is still not working properly. The company is supposed to replace any Xbox 360 after the fourth repair attempt but that did not happen. This is the story of “Greg” and his attempts to get his Xbox 360 repaired.

If only it were true, if only. A popular site for tracking the sales figures for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii has made a grievous error by swapping the numbers for the PS3 and Wii, the Xbox 360 appears unaffected.

Rumors were floating around for several weeks before CES that Microsoft would introduce a Xbox 360 with an integrated HD-DVD drive. This is not going to be the case and the company says there are no plans to include the drive in the future.

Someone really needs to send Microsoft a memo to start including WiFi integrated into the Xbox 360 because paying $100 for a WiFi adapter in 2008 borders on ridiculous. With a little bit of know-how (or the ability to follow instructions) any Windows XP, Vista or Mac laptop can be turned into a wireless gateway for your Xbox 360.
