Rumors were floating around for several weeks before CES that Microsoft would introduce a Xbox 360 with an integrated HD-DVD drive. This is not going to be the case and the company says there are no plans to include the drive in the future.

Someone really needs to send Microsoft a memo to start including WiFi integrated into the Xbox 360 because paying $100 for a WiFi adapter in 2008 borders on ridiculous. With a little bit of know-how (or the ability to follow instructions) any Windows XP, Vista or Mac laptop can be turned into a wireless gateway for your Xbox 360.

Reevoo, a group that collects ‘genuine reviews’ from actual purchasers of a product, has awarded the 2007 Customers’ Choice Award to the Nintendo Wii, despite the widespread shortages of the console leading up to Christmas.

The Nintendo Wii was one of the most popular consoles last year and it is the most popular this year. Only there is a problem, the company is still having problems meeting demand. Conspiracy theorists may think this is by design and that argument may never be settled but it is unlikely this is the case as the situation will hit Nintendo financially.

Like a seven-fingered chef waving a meat cleaver and screaming “It’s okay, I’ve got it this time”, Nokia are set to relaunch the infamous N-Gage brand this month. This shows either remarkable daring and dedication or an utter ignorance of just how much of a joke the brand has become.

Yesterday, Gamer.Blorge.com reported that sales of the PS3 were up 178% in the UK but at that time it wasn’t clear if that was due to the introduction of the cheaper 40GB model or the soon to be discontinued 60GB model which is being sold with two games. It’s now been determined that the 40GB model is a certified flop.

If anyone is surprised by that headline, don’t be. Should it really come as a surprise that the release of the year sold additional Xbox 360 consoles and pushing both the game and the console to the top of the charts for the week? Well, it is and Nintendo should take notice.

Microsoft has said time and again that the infrastructure behind Xbox live is “sufficient” for any demand but apparently its not. Last night, a number of Xbox live users signing on to play Halo 3 discovered that they would have problems signing in and if they did manage to get signed on, staying connected would be difficult.
