To call Modern Warfare 2 a success is to underplay its achievement. Not only has the latest title in the Call Of Duty series outsold all other video games in its first five days on sale, but it also racked up more cash than any movie ever has in that time frame as well. Activision is laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

I never thought EA would be superseded as the biggest money-grabbing SoBs in the video game industry. But it’s happening, with Activision showing a capitalist streak that pushes all other thoughts to one side. Its latest idea? To start charging people to play its biggest franchises online. We’ve all moved on from GTA IV now, right? The latest installment of the long-running Grand Theft Auto series was a massive hit last year but the release of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 means GTA IV has now been superseded as the fastest-selling game of all time. But don’t worry, as GTA V is on the way, although it may be further away than some people have assumed.

Only days after the massive ban Microsoft initiated, hackers have been hard at work figuring out how to circumvent the ban. It seems like some modders have made some advancements on un-banning their Xbox 360s with limitations. Will Microsoft react to this with another wave of bans?

Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision might be one of the most hated figures in the gaming industry right now, but you can’t deny his brilliance. Straight off the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Kotick made a cool $20 million off-loading Activision stocks.
