The Nintendo Wii has been a phenomenal success so far, outselling all of its competitors in every territory around the world. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are both magnificent consoles, but in sheer sales numbers, the Wii is kicking both their arses. But is the Nintendo console a novelty? Microsoft certainly thinks so.

This year has been choke-full of good titles like Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360/PS3 and Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3, but all is not good in video game land as we did have some dark moments this year in gaming. Lets take a look at games that were hyped to high heavens but were brought down with the bolt of disappointment.

There has been a plethora of rumors doing the rounds on the Internet, regarding Xbox 360’s much anticipated delayed Spring update. There are rumors of a Wii like controller, a new Mii-like avatar system, and a hard drive install option. Now, a Microsoft marketing executive David Gosen, teases us a bit more and confirms something big is in the works.

Playstation Home is coming to the PS3 this fall (or autumn for the non-Americans reading), but will it be worth the wait, and give PS3 owners the chance to ram Xbox Live down the throats of all their Xbox 360-owning friends once and for all, or a complete and utter disappointment?

The Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii are all capable of providing hours of entertainment at home for people of all ages. But buying one of the consoles, and then keeping the games coming in to the house, is still seen as quite an expensive hobby, especially being with the prices still high this early in the generation.

It was announced by 2K studios that 2K Marin, 2K Australia and 2K Boston would be working on the PS3 version of Bioshock. Bioshock once an Xbox 360 exclusive was announced to be coming to the PS3 later this year. It was also announced an outside studio is helping them with bringing Bioshock to the PS3.

Japan is a very important territory for the video games industry. Although it is smaller than either the USA or Europe, what happens in Asia can affect the rest of the world’s markets substantially. Which is why the fact that the Playstation 3 has caught up substantially with the Wii during June is big news. The Xbox 360 of course is still trailing far behind, and the life support machine should probably just be turned off now.

Playstation 3 fans are like pigs in mud today after their beloved console received firmware update v2.40, which saw a whole host of features added to their machines. However, rumours emerged today over the long-awaited next Xbox 360 dashboard update. If the speculation proves to be true, this could wipe the smile off the faces of Sony and the PS3 fanboys quick-sharp.

Okay folks, I had a chance to download the latest PS3 firmware last night and test out some of its latest features and do a comparison with my Xbox 360’s feature set. Up to this point as many of you may know the PS3 has been lacking in features that rival Xbox Live dashboard.
